Galaxy S7 to feature Samsungs version of 3D Touch

Original source : http://www.macrumors.com/2015/12/14/samsung-galaxy-s7-3d-touch-usb-c-port-rumor/ and The Wall Street Journal.

Samsung's flagship Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge due early next year will feature a pressure-sensitive display that functions similarly to 3D Touch on iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The copy machine has been turned on once again. People say Apple wait and copy from those who actually innovate when Samsung does it as much or more. It's not a real selling point for me but I would not be surprised if it becomes industry standard.

I mean, wasn't the microscope actually discovered years before it could become used by the masses since the guy who made it didn't let anyone else know or see it? It held back biology by years because of it. Sometimes copying is a good thing.

Oh I did not mean it as a bad thing. It's just that people love to hate on Apple when they do it but give other companies a pass just because they aren't Apple.

Well, Apple stole the idea from Huawei. There are apperantly no original ideas; only copies of copies.

It would be nice to see the big players like Samsung and Apple actually try to inovate rather than just try to play ctach-up with one another.

To be fair, a chunk of the stuff Apple's released as their own was the work of other companies that they just took as their own.

Completely useless, they should just put something that's actually useful like you know.... micro sd? or bigger battery?

micro sd isn't really worth the hassle. every time i take a picture, no snapshot of it shows up and it's basically an invalid picture. plus you can't download apps onto it. so i hate microsd reallly.

I'd never buy a phone without micro-sd, everyone has his preferences I guess, that's why I went with the Note 4.

Considering it has yet to be released and you already tagged it as half assed, and that Samsung's main competitor is Apple which recently released a feature like that, you can guess why I took it as Apple related.

Sure, but the rumours about Force Touch had been around for months before the release of the Mate S.

And both phones pretty much stole the idea from Wacom's old implantation of pressure response.

its just something Samsung always seem to do, see what everyone else is doing and just slap it onto their phone with no real regard for its usability, performance or software

Maybe I am being harsh

(and yes other companies do it too but Samsung are particularly bad at it)

Just because rumours were around doesn't mean that it was taken. Just means that they did a poor job of keeping it under wraps. Either way Apple was still the first of the big phone makers to do it.

Well everyone does that, I mean both sides steal from eachother, both Android and iOS devices wouldn't be where they are now if they didn't.

Sure, I have no issues with the stealing part, 3d touch is a great interface

Its just that Samsung have a history of included it, even if their version is shit and doenst work, like their first phones with fingerprint readers - they just slapped them in there and hoped for the best

If they want to take time to implement the hardware and software properly, then cool, copy away !!

Obviously I dont know if its the case this time, I was kind of being sarcastic, but it wouldnt suprise me!

Apple had force touch on their macbooks and Apple watch long before and couple that with the fact that it actually works fairly reliably with a satisfying feedback puts apple way ahead what huwei tried to do just because apple was rumored to do

And don't say BS like Wacom had it before because then I can also say that wacom copied it from real life where pressure is actually a thing

Stealing from competition is what makes companies and technology grow. Company A creates some new tech, companies B, C, and D change it a bit and add there own twist. The stolen tech now has been improved and branch into a bunch of other stuff.

Now back to the topic. I loved (emphasis on the ed) Samsung for phone choice but their bloatware kills it for me now. Yes it has gotten better but they're not the flagship Android pick they use to be. Screw the 3d touch and bring back removable battery!

Does anybody actually care about 3d touch? You can just emulate it with a long touch...

It's not the same in anyway. If you've used it,which I'm assuming you haven't, it's a very good experience and much better than a simple long touch.
