what is the best graphics card i can buy for under  $200

CPU: i5 4690k  (overclocked to 4.3ghz)             CPU Cooler: Cryorig h7                 MOBO:  Msi Z97 pc mate             RAM: 8GB HyperX 1600 blue

GPU: rx480  4gb                                                 CASE: Corsair Spec-01 red              OS: Windows 10

PSU: EVGA 500   watt                                       SSD:    v60gb Mushkin ssd                HDD: 1000GB WD BLUE

2GB R9 380 would probably be the one to go for.

Or 2GB GTX 960 if you prefer Nvidia.

Might be able to find a cheap ref 290 (still better than the 960/380), or even a 380x/280x with Mail in rebates

That would be above $200. 

I don't think so with the way that Nvidia is dropping prices because a GTX 970 is 275$ and a GTX 960 is 180$ so it might be 200-225$

You could always check gpushack.com for a refurb card. You can get some pretty good ones from there.

I bet those 970s go back to $315-$330 on Tuesday.

They don't even claim a source, they could just be making shit up based on Thanksgiving prices. Last year GPU prices shot way back up on December 1st.

R9 290 reference if you want a corner heater in your room. But seriously it's going to be the best performer but it's loud. If you don't want a really loud card then the Powercolor R9 380 4gb version is only $179.99 on Newegg and $159.99 after mail in rebate. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131673

Good god there are still new 290/X reference cards being sold?

 

AMD took one of the best GPUs ever made, and slapped one of the worst reference coolers ever made on it. It was an epic mistake that AMD still hasn't totally recovered from.

 

I'm one of the few people who actually like the look of the 290/X reference cooler, but the performance and noise was so bad its legendary

Yes but the reference 290 has terrible noise and heat issues. The inadequate cooling will also mean a shorter lifespan. Avoid it unless you intend to watet cool it. You might be lucky and find some non reference 290s on ebay for your budget.
