New+Used Challenge. There's a wheel with various parts on it, (cpu, gpu, psu, etc) whatever you get, you have to buy new. You have to spin the wheel = to a number you roll on 1 dice. Aka: get a 2 on a dice roll, 2 new parts.

Honestly I'm getting bored of the format for the same reasons as @Benji_w . The seasons take too long to reach a conclusion, and because (if we're honest) "What part should I buy" and "Oh no, part x doesn't work" doesn't stay that interesting for very long, I tend to only watch the first few and then the last one. I think it would be good if they would reconsider their release strategy for the show, releasing it in larger chunks over a shorter period, and if they'd mix it up somehow, because all the seasons so far have basically just been "best performance with minimal spend" with no other real factors coming in to it.

 

They need a new USP for each season, like portable PCs, SFF, HTPC, NAS and so on to keep it interesting, because repeated budget gaming PCs every season is boring

I like how they've been doing it. Wish they'd release the episodes faster though.

I have no issue with the release schedule of Scrapyard Wars, it does suck a little, but it seems like they HAVE to take that route. If not because Edzel edits the episodes by himself, then it's because they can generate more revenue, of which I cannot blame either scenario.

Mixing it up would be nice, though. An interesting twist would be nice rather than Scenario - Follow this whilst being as cheap as possible.

I'd like one where there is no budget, the goal is to get as close to a target FPS average in a specific game as you can.

Example: You have to get as close to a 70 fps average as you can in Crysis 3 at a predetermined resolution and graphical setting.

There is no budget, you can get what ever you want and you can overclock if you want to, but you can not underclock any components.

 

 

If you want to factor in a budget have it so every $10 over $300 you are put 1 FPS further away from the target average and every $10 under $300 you are moved 1 FPS close to the target FPS average.

You wouldn't want to have a 1 FPS adjustment for every $1 over/under as all someone would have to do is build a $230 PC and so long as they were able to make it through the benchmark with out the PC crashing they would win.

A $400 PC that ran the game at 80FPS average with the penalty for going over $300 would adjust to 90 FPS, yet it may be better than a $200 PC if that PC could only get 30FPS average (40FPS average for the budget bonus).

I would love to see a Compact Gaming PC showdown, where Luke and Linus compete to see who can get the most performance per square inch of system.  There are lots of great Mini-ITX cases out there, but seeing a DIY solution like what Luke did with the Bomb would be a very interesting contest.

No its not actually-my 4790K can run at 4.8GHz with no problems on my H87M Pro (check HWBOT for the bench marks), though the Seidon 120V is giving me trouble.
