Is a Corsair CX750M PSU good enough for my pc?

My specs are:

CPU - I7 4770 @ 4.3Ghz
Motherboard - Asus Sabertooth Z87
RAM - 16GB Kingston HyperX Beast 2400Mhz
GPU - Nvidia MSI 980ti 6GB Twin Frozr OC
Case - Corsair Obsidian 750D
Storage - Samsung 250GB SSD and 3x 1TB WD Caviar Black
PSU - Corsair CX750M
Display - Asus PG279Q ROG Swift 27" ISP 1440p @ 165Hz
Cooling - Corsair H80
Mouse - Logitech G9X
Operating System - Win 10 Pro

I have been informed that my PSU is not good enough to power the 980ti I have installed as I am getting crashes on games right now.

Can anyone confirm whether they would agree that I need a better PSU like a Corsair HXi Series HX1000i or am I fine with what I have and it must be something else causing the crashes?

Thank you in advance :D

You don't need more wattage, you need a better PSU. See if you can return it, get your money back, and get an EVGA GS/B2/GQ/G2

You're getting crashes in games because the CX series from Corsair uses low quality components that should never be used in a higher end gaming system. Post number #2 for options.

With a 980 Ti?

You jest, surely.

With a card like that, it's sure to not be too happy with it.

quoting corsair's website: "CX is ideal for basic system builds"

i'm unsure where basic and a 980Ti come together...

I mean the 980ti is basically a graphics card.

The CX 750 ain't a great PSU but it can handle an i7 and a 980 Ti.

Set the clockspeeds on the i7 back to stock

Now if you want a good 750 watt PSU, get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371073 as it's a Seasonic unit that's nonmodular and cheap as fuck

Well just for the record; I have had this system for about 1 1/2 years, had a GTX 770 before and just just upgraded the GPU. So I guess by the reaction I have has though slightly mixed I guess I should get a better PSU to make my GPU happier.

Thank for your your responses :D Lots of love.

a power supply wouldn't cause crashes in games.. it would crash the whole system.

Sorry I wasn't clear the system crashes not just the games.

Or the recently released RMx line. The RM1000x got the full 10/10 on Jonnyguru.

The CX series is designed for low cost, basic builds. I would recommend upgrading the PSU to a HX, RM, or AX series. 750W Would be more than enough.

Hey my friend. I really did appreciate your input, help and advice, but I just thought I would open up the question to a larger audience to view their as important input. Hope you weren't offended. Thank you again.

really nice choice.

keep in mind any evga Gq/Gs/G2/P2/Ps would do the job

the EVGA PS 1000w is currently on the cheap, you can grab it for 120 usd ( gs/ps made from seasonic, g2/p2 from superflower -both are top notch quality)

The site has changed....
