im a huge proponent of 4k 60hz over 1440p 120+hz.

The increase clarity i prefer over smoothness.

No way, 120 hz all the way. Better Frames in games, Smoother things on the screen. Until 4k becomes viable in 120hz  in terms of hardware requirements its just too much of a difference with 60 vs 120 hz.

if you play competitivly I would do 1440P at 144hz but if not 4k at 60 hz would be pretty amazing too if you can run it.

Well than 1440p 144hz would probably be better.

Using is it retina calculator it says that pixels in 1440p 27 inch become invisible when looking from 81cm and i'm about 80cm away from the monitor. Pixels in 4k 27 inch become invisible at about 65cm. So i'm not sure is 4k worth it but i have very sharp eyes so it could be useful.

I stand by my statement. I'm perfectly fine with 60hz, and i see a much greater difference on 4k, than 1440p. Once again, i greatly prefer it over 1440p 120+hz.

Honestly you should go for 1440P/144Hz.

You won't be able to run every game on good conditions at 4K. However, the interesting thing is that if you run a game flawlessly, you can use DSR to increase the game's graphics.

I think a doubling of the frame rate is a larger image quality improvement than the pixel density increase. Smoothness matters a lot when it comes to games and the impact of freesync/gsync with 144hz is the best change in image quality in 10 years.

1440p 144hz hands down, its less demanding than 4k, no windows scaling issues, and at a normal distance its super sharp and you cannot see pixels

I think its THE best experience available at this moment in time

1440p with 144Hz is the better choice if it's cheaper and your graphics card is powerful, plus there's a huge difference from 60Hz gameplay to 144Hz. If you've played on 144Hz, I'm pretty sure you don't want to go back to 60Hz.

#1 source for all gaming monitors.

144 hz @1440p is just so incredibly smooth! The feeling completely trumps that of any 60 hz experience (regardless of the resolution). I used to have a 4K Asus panel, which I swapped out for a Asus PG 278Q, and have been having much more fun with it.

Acer xb270hu, it's gsync though. The freesync equivalent is a TN panel, but quite affordable.

1440p 144hz all the way. I'm loving it right now. All the main points have already been stated in this thread and they're true. Lag kills your sense of immersion a heck of a lot more than a few extra pixels adds to it. You can't describe the feeling of pure smoothness if your gfx power and your screen are a match for each other. There is already incredible sharpness at 1440p, you won't benefit that much more with 4k in that dept but you'll benefit hugely with the extra frame rate.

I'm in the same situation but I'm leaning more towards 1440p 1440Hz IPS over 4K 60Hz (for a new i7-6700K / 980 Ti build). My question is whether or not G-SYNC makes enough of a difference to justify the extra money over a 1440p 144Hz IPS that doesn't have it. Hmm.
