Can we add this rule please?

Exhilarare

Can we make a rule that if you're going to reply to a topic, you cannot quote the entire post? I find it really distracting and annoying frankly.

Thoughts?

I see that you're not following your own thread. That should be rule #1, to follow the threads you created so people don't have to quote it in the first place :D

I vote we take it one step further and have mods outright ban hammer anyone they disagree with.

There is probably some setting the server admins can enable to make so that you auto follow any topic you create.

OR, you could just ask them to give every quote over like 10 lines a spoiler button

Lol people quote the topic bc the OP doesn't follow it, so it's the only way they'll get updates on it.

Quoting pictures, on the other hand, is outright a dick move. It makes the threads way to long and all that, and a simple

-snip-

is all that's needed.

It's a profile setting.

Why wouldn't someone quote a whole post in a thread?  You want me to spend MORE of my precious time to go through and meticulously pick through a quote so I only quote a specific part?  The quote is there so people know who you're talking about.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

First of all, this: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/314050-forum-features-suggestions/

And second of all, would be a good thing to do.. Not sure if it should be a rule as sometimes the OP is just 3 lines long or something, so you would have to make exceptions and stuff

There already is a rule that you should not quote the OP. Replying to the topic without a quote generally means that you are replying to the OP. In this case I'm not replying to the OP (or maybe i am indirectly), I'm quoting your post which only has 2 lines. If your post was 100 lines i would take out the small part that i'm referring to. It's less work than everyone else has to do by scrolling through the thread when most of it is just duplicate content.

Okay... but what poster doesn't go and check back on their own topics? Lol. Idk. I think that it should be a feature auto-enabled.

True,

But a feature specifically to follow topics you make, does ot exist right now. It hasbeen requested many many times and the only answer we always hear is that it is in the new forum software.

they may go back once, but ot after that. that often happens, so better be safe than sorry.

And as I said above, has been suggested often, but not possible in theurrent forum software

You have a Kingston SSDNow. You shouldn't be forcing your own idealisms with that in your system.
