Box Box Box - Sim Racing Players Club [Now Hype Train Enabled!]

Haven't posted an update on the PRD league races in a while. It's been a fun, frustrating and challenging experience, to say the least. Been learning a lot about setups, strategies and driving techniques to make tires last longer, lol.

We're currently racing the Dallara Indy cars which are a blast. The draft pull really makes it interesting on the higher-speed tracks.

The 5-way mid-pack points battle is real... :D  I have a lot of work to do, lol. All these guys are tough to race against. Every track we've been to, at least one of these guys breaks the current world record in time trail and the rest of us usually fill out the top 5-10.

Spent the morning of my birthday fooling around with a RSR Formula 3 car. Man this thing is so much fun, despite not having my wheel with me. Low power, low aero, moderate grip - like a baby formula renault car, but more slidey than the Tatuus formula Abarth car.

VMax is maybe 220ks in 6th, can do consistently conservative 2:22s at spa with an occassional 2:20. RSR did a fantastic job with the physics model with this in terms of accurately modelling the aero data and updating hte physics and tire data with feedback from real world teams.

Of course I took some photos

is it weird that I find driving harder in a sim than in real life? (assuming you're comfortable with either)

Something to do with the feedback you get from the car driving in a digital space compared to the real world - your limites are more vaguely defined and youre working harder to get the most out of the car

Ergo, you cant make use of your ass gyro when playing a sim :P

Pretty much what chaozbandit said, its like walking with 4 toes on your feet, take away your pinkie toes and you can still watch but your sense of balance is distrupted not to the point where you have no balance but you have to noticeably take caution.

Two gyros have an effect here, your backside+spine tell you a lot of information, without this it feels very different. if you have ever been in a bose suspension car(well you will only find the sc400 with this in it at select car shows) when its a bit like sim racing effectively you cant feel much and the car is too heavy for you to be effected by g-forces

The second gyro is the steering wheel, without gyro effects enabled in your sim of choice the weight transfer gets a lot harder to replicate. Generally the car itself wants to go in a certain direction, gyro gives you enough power to simulate that and has enough power to snap all kinds of crap in your arms which is why its normally off.
