Had a brief go on ACC just now and man Suzuka is as much fun as I remember it being; the last time I think I drove it proper was GT5 and that was ages ago. Also, Bathurst in VR is absolutely terrifying coming down the mountain.

Ya its fun once you get used to it. True night running and weather are great additions, though the game still likes to kill you if you take curbing wrong or get wheelspin at slight dips in track variation.

Did some more testing last night. Tried out most of the cars with the default 'aggressive' preset setups. It feels quite different from PCars 2 which I'm very used to. Have to brake earlier and low-speed corners are very understeery in most cars. A few setup adjustments definitely helps though.

 

I like that I can adjust the TCS and ABS on the fly, depending on conditions and sector of the track. Haven't tried weather yet, just dry. Need A LOT more practice first, lol. I feel like I'm way off pace and having a hard time laying down consistent flying laps. Finding the right braking point for various corners I think is the main issue. All in time though. Friday's race will be interesting and fun, regardless.

Maybe for whatever comes after ACC, but not right now as its not part of the SRO license. What is probable, however of a long shot it is, is Mosport coming if they expand to the GT America calendar as well.

 

One of the things that impressed me the most during the earlier betas is how each car feels distinctly different to one another, not just in power delivery but also chassis dynamics. I tend to favour the GTR and Vantage for now as they havent tried to kill me, but I havent explored the porsche as much as I wanted without the wheel (except for the Cup, which is a right banger of a good time).

 

On the note of on the fly adjustment, some cars (like the Vantage) have a two stage TCS that accounts for slip (TC1) and yaw (TC2), although Im not sure what other cars this applies to yet.

 

Avoid the NSX like the plague as its the slowest of the crop, despite how cool it looks. The lexus too although you can make it fast with work.

Edit just had another session

- nsx evo isnt as slow as I remember

- porsche still wants to kill you on a gamepad

- porsche still has an annoying higher pitch in 6th gear than 5th

- mclaren feels like its cheating all the time and TC 0 is always on the dash when TC OFF

 

Came out with the GTR still feeling the best on a gamepad, and for the first time explored the aggressive setup which was immediately 2 seconds faster though still not on par with wheel users.

McLaren is my fav thus far. Feels great and suits my driving style really well. The Vantage is another I was able to get comfortable with fairly quickly.

 

Half of what makes this game so good is the sounds... OMG, the sounds!!!

Our pole runner ran a 2:02. I ran a 2:03.

And then we were surprised by rain for the start of the race and caught us all off-guard, lol. That was sketchy, to say the least. Fun though.

So much fun. First time in a long time that Ive used a wheel in ACC and the ffb threw me for a loop first time around. Per IMSA rules, final race of the weekend is at the end of the day and 45 minute session. Started P16 and ended up fighting for P1 at the end of the race after a few minor offs. Overall a heck of a good time although tires were getting sketchy near the end.

^ title. I get that its a bit of a dirty lap but I hit a wall for the better part of half an hour no matter what I did. 1:47s on the pad consistently, meaning there is a potential 1:45 on the wheel.

Still bloody lost on Kyalami but its fun like a gran turismo track once you get into a rhythm. Apparently this is still seconds off a decent pace lol. Also did a bathurst race but the AI derped after the pitstop window; I wa really looking forward to podium on pace on the rad. 2:06 best on a rubbered in track and 30C ambient.

Cant speak for iracing but the car is a blast in other titles and in real life. I am local to ideal porsche ladder team and they've gone through both generations of Cayman.
