Box Box Box - Sim Racing Players Club [Now Hype Train Enabled!]

Lots of great races recently with PRD in the BAC Mono. Fantastic car to drive and throw around. Quite a handful in the rain, but that makes it all the more fun! :D

And yes, I made a custom livery to look like the car is made of wood. ;)

I love it, it's so much fun. Hard to fully grasp the underlying physics changes on a gamepad but the aero balance is noticeable, and when the car grips up with the new TC. You can carry so much speed into the fast corners and the nose can be trimmed with the slightest throttle change. Long runs are consistent but rhythm is more important with the way they've modelled heating. Tricky with the BB being at 59 as I tend to run more rear bias (in the Radicals) but nothing too hard to grasp.

It's like the old FLM09 on steroids.

Fuel mode 1 is qualy power (goes up to 7, which is ~8% reduction for lean mix), TC1 is traditional wheel speed slip, TC2 is for yaw slip based on inputs.

Edit: oh yeah this spicy moment

Gosh it's so much fun. It really does feel like a modern LMP2 car with gobs more power and aero, but it should given its the peak of the ICE era pre-hybridization (late 2012/13). You can push through fast stuff so easily, especially so in fast sweepers. Mosport was good with downforce in high commitment downhill corners (T2/T4), but the P13C inspires even more confidence going up the esses at the Glen and the fast flick near the end of the lap. You can power out of the low speed hairpins so well (partly because of TC) but accelerating out of the bus stop chicane is like nothing you'll ever experience in a GT car.

I could probably hit 1:08s at Mosport by optimizing the lap, but it still puts me at 2 seconds behind the ball on modern DPi machinery. Clocked the Glen at 1:32, short near 3 seconds on this year's record breaking lap in DPi. Fun numbers even though they may not mean much.

Also for fun, LMP1-L (non-hybrid 2019+) were ~3 seconds a lap faster at Sebring than DPi.

ACC 1.10 is out! Zandvoort and a bunch of new cars, including Evos for the Huracan, R8, and 911 plus brand new entrants from Aston Martin and McLaren.

Firstly, the 911 GT3R is trash. For the first time in a long time, a Porsche is not my first choice. The rear end is twitchy as all heck and the front doesn't inspire good feedback, although it drives like a loose GT3 Cup in most regards. Always had the back end step out for no apparent reason. Audio bug with the gearbox whine in 6th gear (only apparent on interior views).

Also Zandvoort isn't my favourite track so I'm probably off the pace a bit. Some of the switchbacks are vague and I just can't nail the lines, add in the Porsche's traction problems and it's just a very vague time.

Next up is the Vantage and oh my this might be one of my favourite cars of this patch. So much fun to push, chassis tells you exactly what it's going to do and how much more you need to give for a few tenths. Drives very similar to the Vantage GTE mod for AC surprisingly. Only had to watch the understeer on corner entry but otherwise the car was a solid all-rounder, even with the rears lit on TC 0. The dash is a bit cluttered but the wheel lock and slip LEDs are incredibly easy to read and adjust for. Overall drives like the RCF, in all the good ways.

Unsurprisingly the eSports car is the most well sorted and consistent. I dont think I ever got this thing to step out without doing so intentionally. Just need to watch for braking on entry since it didnt seem to like trail braking that much, and you're going to have a bad time exceeding track limits in most cases. Tricky mid corner behaviour if the in-car LEDs are to be believed - very light wheel locking and constant wheel slip to be expected. The gearing feels slightly off compared to other cars, and in addition to being mindful of boost level, it's a very concentrated drive (ironic as the dash lights are much more difficult to read). It does sound the business doesn't it. Visual bug where TC 0 stays on the motec (or is it a feature, seems kind of detrimental).

SO MuCH FUN. Theres still a second on the table but getting in the groove with the aston. She lights the tires in 2nd but is stable anywhere above that, just gotta get a bit of trail brake in to nail the apex and rocket off. Dont think Ive nailed the first two sectors of Paul Ricard this well before but third sector is still a mess. It's not far from the M6 in a way.

Useless race at monza, just fun watching people implode. 1:50s possible on a gamepad, still loving the Vantage.

That's interesting. I hate the first one, I played a few hours and got rid of it. And I even finished Dirt Showdown. I thought Grid 2 and Autosport were pretty decent, but considering I got all 3 free I can't complain too much.

In other news, Slightly Mad Studios has been purchased by Codemasters. Wonder how that'll end. they killed off Evo studios pretty quick.

Sunday should work for me, just let me know the deets! Although its been a minute since I set up my G27 so that might need a shakedown. Finally replaced some 3d printed parts that snapped last outing.

Had a brief go on ACC just now and man Suzuka is as much fun as I remember it being; the last time I think I drove it proper was GT5 and that was ages ago. Also, Bathurst in VR is absolutely terrifying coming down the mountain.
