The latest technology to emerge from a team of experienced roboticists, DOM Indoors is a robotic system that can reconfigure any room within minutes. It looks like a cross between a Terminator movie and LEGOs. Little blocks rise out of the floor to create walls, tables and surfaces, and sink back down again in a fluid motion.

 

That’s because all of the building materials — enough 5-inch tiles and aluminum studs construct thousands of 6-inch cubes — are flat-packed and stored underneath the floor of the room.

 

Little robots live in this 5-inch space hidden below the floor, where they assemble the cubes one layer at a time, move them to the correct location, and lift them into place. The robots are battery-powered, so they can go back to a charging dock (similar to a Roomba) when they’re running low on energy.

 

 

 

WOW.. This is the ultimate furnishing in future.. ow space not an issue, convert your space into anything....

does it do pipeing and electricity too ? I don't think so.

I mean, it litteraly prints the wires, tubes etc.  then you go in and add some furniture and stuff.

I can see it building the pipes into the structure. Wouldn't be too hard, I guess.

Wiring would be an issue. You could just have cable channels built into the structure and just add the cabling as it progresses

For the money something like this would cost, i would rather have a huge room for each activity i could possibly think of.

 

I dont see this for homes on a planets surface. In microgravity environment with very limited space however this might become VERY useful.

or even better, i gigantic 3D printer that makes house sized 3D printers where you live inside and you can just reprint your walls and stuff as you like, and anything you like

you could 3d design a new house and completly change house within a day or two. man would I change house often.

What you talking about, that man is a genius being able to convert so much rooms in that one tiny space. If it's all layed out, it'll probably be the size of a mansion.

haha I was going to say the same thing. I move a lot when I sleep, so I'd probably wake up with a bunch of bruises on my head from bashing the tile. But of course this could just be for example lol. But still.
