Best nVidia GPU to pair with a G3258

<<<<<<This thread is currently on hold until I actually have the mooneh to buy a GPU. Also to give time for prices to normalize.. I'm looking at you GTX 950, and you R9 300s.>>>>>

That's basically it.

G3258 will be OC'd
please no AMD. me no like im sorry.  reconsidering
no plan on SLI
no upgrade path (I will just create another build instead of recycling parts from this tra- i mean- budget build)

EDIT:

I was avoiding to give you the full build because usually people get out of focus when they see my build.

Instead of answering the question, they suggest other stuff like, "change your cpu, your mobo is shit, your psu is not enough" etc etc.

Anyhooo:

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/7CdpwP

G3258 reason: OC practice for newbs.

current choices are: (Budget is 9000 PhP)...
9liekh.png

Ill update this in the morning (12hrs give or take) for the full list of available GPUs (make/model). and also pricing.

!UPDATED!

I did not list everything

removed all GPUs that are PhP 10,000 up.

Also did not check a lot of vendors (just decent ones).

This list is just to give you an overview of GPU pricing here in the Philippines.

For now here's what I can give you, I have enough money for an Inno3D GTX 960 which costs 8850PhP (roughly 190-200$). 950s are on the 175-200$ range (yes most of the available 950s are very expensive). 750Tis I haven't checked.

Games to be played (on 1080p):
LoL & HotS most of the time

And then some OLD single player games. e,g. PoP series, AC series, BioShock series, and etc..

Most probably the heaviest game would be Skyrim.

I'm pretty sure I don't need a stronger CPU to play these games.

Soo 60fps Skyrim. 960 vs 950 vs 750Ti vs Red Team

inno3d 960 if you have the money then.

IMO you should look into a 280x or 380 though, usually cost the same and perform better, but if you don't want it then w/e :P

960 if you have the money. @NeatSquidYT has his with a 970. But please get an R9 380 or 280x. They both beat the 960 by a good margin. Also if you get a G3258 you ARE GETTING it because if the upgrade path. People use the pentium for two things. A place holder cpu until they cluld get sn i5/i7 or to practice over clocking.

I would honestly go with the 280/380... I have a 7950 paired up with mine and it's more or less a perfect match. In some games the CPU is the limiter, and in the other half it's the GPU. So really a good balance, IMO.

Couldn't be more true @OP.

The 380 is literally all around a far better card, and it costs the same. If you fanboy out over nvidia and stop yourself from even considering the opposition then you'll never get the best deal, you'll always be hurting yourself.

any one of those would do fine, currently 960 & 950 are pretty good in terms of performance

Do you already have the G3258?

If no, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD get an 860K. 4 cores and is decently future-proof.

Please look into AMD's cards though unless Adobe products.

no, no. nonononononono. 4 cores, yes, but is on a used socket with no updated chipsets. The processor itself is clock-for-clock, on par with a Q6600. That's not decently futureproof. The most upgrading OP can do is move to an APU. That's pretty much it.

A G3258 will suffer in games because dual-core, but that leaves OP open to upgrade to far more powerful processors in the future. It's a good processor to start out with, even if it stutters like Porky Pig.

Best Nvidia GPU I would pair with one of those would be a 950 or 960. But at that price point you may as well go with a 280X or a 380.

We're implying that the 4790K will be available new within a year.

Broadwell wasn't really available here in the US.

Not sure about the Philippines though.

he could buy a used i7-4770...or an i5-4570...or a xeon 1230V3/1231V3 or whatever there are TONS of worthy upgrades to the pentium that are direct drop in into those boards and finding a used chip to pop in there will be very easy for him...that said i would invest in a core i3-4160 minimum for gaming.

best fanboy to pair up with a GPU? dis person ;)

get a 380 if you have the budget

if you want to stay a fanboy get EVGA 960

Not everyone cares only about performance, there are other factors to consider like the software environment and power consumption and heat output. Caring about more than performance does not make you a fanboy.

Depends on your PSU.  If you have one that's less than 500 watts, stick with Nvidia.  Otherwise you'll have to buy a beefy PSU.

Bullshit, R9 380 is just as efficient as the 960.

If you think that 3W are gonna save you a lot of money, then yeah, get a 960.
