It probably can, at 1 FPS. I still don't think 4K will become cheap enough for a living room, unless you have 15,000 dollars.

Honestly, why is this such a big shock? I mean, Intel can do 4k on the iGPU alone. As far as a console game coming out in 4k? I doubt we'll see a game support 4k until they become more common, so I'm thinking 3-5 years min.

Maybe they'll up-res games to 4K like they did SD to HD but I know for a fact none of these consoles will play games at that res natively if they struggle with BF4 at native 720p. Do people really buy into hype without investigating the facts for themselves?

Technically this is possible. How?  Well through upscaling, assuming a game runs natively on the console at 1080p, then any image the GPU outputs can be mathematically upscaled using various techniques.

Why is everyone having such a problem with this article, it never even suggested that you would be playing AAA titles at 4k, all it's saying is it can output at 4k, nothing less, nothing more, plus it shouldn't exactly take much horse power to make simple games such as platformers and the likes 4k.

"So, in theory, the Xbox One could support 2K or perhaps even 4K gaming – if there’s content for it at those resolutions."

I think a lot of the arguments are missing the point in this old thread.

The Xbox One is 4k ready. They aim to take over the living room for the next decade or so. By not restricting the resolution and having it become an integral part of the living room space, you suddenly have a 4k media streaming box. That is the goal of the 4k capabilities, it's not for gaming. The article is misleading and aims to bring out trolls.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
