I want to make money with my PC. Cryptocurrencies?

I have a hard time making online purchases because I have to get it through my parents bank. This is usually empty. If I use my PC for some sort of profit mining, can I get a reasonable profit from it and use it for online purchases? Dont get me wrong, I like folding, but I really cant use it to buy things...

Edit: I do not pay for power and in the winter my PC will actually be used nearly 24/7 as a room heater.

It's worth it imo.

Pretty sure you'd lose more in electricity then make, of course you don't have to pay for electricity probably.

I already own an AMD card. The problem is that I want a way to get money that does not involve my parents. Buying a miner is out of the question. I was asking what of the metric ballsload of different currencies/coins can be profitable on a 390x. And this system runs at 40 degrees while folding.

if you're really determined, get a couple of AMD cards and give them plenty of breathing room. run them flat out 24/7 until they pop, you might just get tnough to replace 1/4 of one of those cards

my 390x is watercooled so temps are fine. And I have not killed a GPU that I cannot repair

Go after FoldingCoin. At least it's an ACTUALLY usefull coin.

 

Or, go after EVGA Bucks (through folding). While you can't get the cash directly, you can use it to buy EVGA products, which is always nice. It'll take a while to gather, but hey, it's better than nothing.

Mining any sort of cryptocurrency these days isn't worth it without gigantic investments at the start.

 

Seeing that you don't pay for electricity, I'm taking it you live with your parents? Ask them to show you the electricity bill you currently get before exclaiming that you don't pay for electricity. Utilities aren't free, you're paying for them one way or another.
