There is no need to keep a computer on if not needed. It wastes electricity, wears down components, and creates heat.

Fair enough about the electricity and heat but the wear part I disagree as it's not like you're going to miss 1 or 2 years of the virtual age.

funnily enough, the mornings here are quite cool atm, so I put my PC on to folding and let it run and it warms the room up nicely

If I wake up early, (I'm nice and lazy so on top of my good mouse and keyboard I have a shitty wireless one to use from bed) I launch GTA and spawn in around 20 body guards and it gets the cpu/gpu working nice and hard to heat it up

Shutdown. I never leave it on if I don't use it.

Usually when I'm not using it, I shut it down, if I'm using it here and there during the day then I'll leave it on so I can resume back to whatever I was doing quickly.

My PC is shut down when I am asleep or not home. It only stays on overnight or when I am at work when I have it downloading a large file or working on something. When you have to pay the power bill, every cent counts.

hi mine stays on 24/7 cus i have bad wifi and if there is a game update at night it can install and be done ;)

Fair enough about the electricity and heat but the wear part I disagree as it's not like you're going to miss 1 or 2 years of the virtual age.

I shut it down at night. The only reason for doing so is because the power light from my case is bright as shit and it doesn't let me sleep.

My PC is shut down when I am asleep or not home. It only stays on overnight or when I am at work when I have it downloading a large file or working on something. When you have to pay the power bill, every cent counts.

If I paid power my pc would off every time I'm not using it for more than 30 minutes,

I'm a terrible person with this, I have periods of up to a week or two in which I won't restart / shutdown.

 

I'd put this generally towards me turning my second monitor towards my bed and watching movies / tv shows as I fall asleep, on top of that there is also the fact of Australia's awesome internet  :(  which leads me to try and do the download of larger things when I won't be using the PC for a decent period of time

I don't mind the noise while I sleep, in fact, I can't sleep if it's too quiet lol.

only do reboots to update shit or if something breaks. Occasionally just to dump the ram. Gotta keep up that bakabt seed ratio.

my pc takes 8 seconds to boot and I can restart anything (except maybe games, which dont like sleep anyways) in a couple seconds so I shutdown if ill be away more than an hour or so.  Chrome brings my last tabs back so thats easy.  No hibernate either which eliminates the hiberfile.sys on my ssd saving space

I Shut mine down. due to the bandwidth cap being 5GB's in my country well my ISP. And if i do hit that cap my download speed slows down to 150kbps.
