What tools to clean your pc?

Go to solution Solved by JefferyD90,

Hi there!

I am about to clean my PC and I would like to know if there's a brush or anything that can fine clean the components from dust, specially my GTX 780 which has a HUGE pcb. Air under pressure only removes the dust from fans and such.. Any suggestions?

get a air compressor or borrow one from a friend.  Otherwise a SOFT toothbrush or something like that.  But DO NOT bear down AT ALL.

So a fine brush (any brush? even if it's not antistatic?) would do? I have a high-end PC, don't want to cripple it :)

I use a fine brisel paint brush on older hardware....not sure id totally trust it on brand new high end hardware

id just use a air compressor on newer stuff

shouldn't have that much dust on newer hardware anyway

unless you got a really dusty/dirty house..in which case you need some dust filters on your case

If I ever have to use a brush (which I have only had to use when I spilt some tea on a motherboard once so I could get the sugar off) it was just a tooth brush.

I just blow dust off and use my vacuum cleaner and sometimes my hands to wipe dust off.

Bucket of soapy water to remove the build up of concrete-like dust from my motherboard and a quick run of the washing machine for my graphics card, hard drive, CPU and power supply. Then put them in the microwave for roughly 3 minutes to dry.. put it all back together and get back to gaming.

On a more serious note: Compressed air for mostly everything.

Why not? I use my vacuum cleaner that has an option to push the air out instead of in, it works really well. Except that if you don't have a window open your room gets dusty but it does a great job.

For everything compressed air can't get.

Ketchup is better than mustard.

GUI is better than Command Line Interface.

Dubs are better than subs

Because you could damage your hardware.

I may do it the future with my good computer, but not until I have practiced with unimportant computers first.

How can you damage your components if the air is BLOWING not sucking in? My vacuum has 2 states it can work from.
