I just don't like Apple as a company.  Steve Jobs was a cunt, their products are lacking in features, and the zealousness of their fanbase is a major turn off.  The fact that Apple is considered "the most valuable company in the world" based on market cap is the punchline to it.  No one would care if Apple disappeared tomorrow.  Try that for Google or Intel or Microsoft or Walmart or Exxon.

Price is the thing that keeps me away from their products and the most dumb thing they ever did, making iPhones only able to communicate with other Apple devices ONLY.

Really, if I want to get a photo via bluetooth off my buddy why can't I do that like a normal android phone? Also iTunes is a mess imo.

I found iOS 8 on the 4S to be not bad. But iOS 9 (which is confirmed coming to the 4S) I wouldn't be surprised if it's awful

Steve Jobs was a marketing whore.  Woz had the right idea.

well I do like woz more than jobs (only by a little) he did revaluation the tech industry with touch screen phones and tablets etc.

Yes so are PCs, for the same price i can build a dual Xeon work station for the price of a mac pro that will fit more HDDs/SSDs

well most PCs use stock coolers.

I was refering to laptops. Ive never had a windows or linux laptop burn my leg at full load. Only my macbook did. (when i had one)

Lets be honest. The two main competitors in this argument consist of Apple and Google. Specifically I've read a lot of posts pointing out iOS vs. Android or OSX vs. Windows.

 

First, BOTH companies have stellar operating systems. The difference is who it is marketed towards. iOS, is marketed toward the type of person who wants to know it will work right out of the box, immediately, every time. Android, is marketed towards people who want the ability for customization, but will probably need at least a basic understanding of technology to get there.

 

Second, while I do agree that products like computers or phones that Apple creates do not fit the "price/performance" ratio that is expected these days, you are not just paying for that product you have to remember. You are paying for the brand as well. Sure you could go and build a system running Windows or buy a phone with better specs, and when you compare them to the latest iMacs or iPhones you will surly save a pretty penny, but that is not always what is in the mind of a consumer. You have to remember that we as people like attention. When you have something that people recognize as expensive or a certain brand, you get attention from it.

 

Now I am not saying that people who buy Apple products are begging for attention, because it's the same on the Android/Windows side as well. I'm just saying that you pay for the brand recognition as well as the product because along with being something of use, it's also a fashion statement.

I don't specifically hate them, but they are overpriced for what they are. Like HP is basically Microsofts OEM and they have a full Windows 8/1 tablet for $100-180 at the lowest price range. While Apple has there cheapest ipad priced at $299 and you are still locked down to there stupid iOS. It's just that you pay too much for the brand name and a premium for it. They're build quality is pretty good however and design is amazing.

Iphone: Pretty okay in it's own right, but they increase the price with no improvements besides a bigger screen, cause they know the people will want it MORE when it's even more expensive.

Ipad: It's my preffered tablet due to it's good components, safety (getting a virus on an Ipad will take you a long time, even though not impossible) and general layout.

Mac OS X: Great for productivity, and the computers that run it are awesome. Only, overpriced to the brim.

Going to say this as short as I can. Apple is good for editing and having all you work flow nicely. Apple has admitted to making older computers less optimized for new updates to make you buy new ones. It costs $400 to make an Iphone when they sell it for $700. They have no support for programs. They can still get malware no matter how they advertise. Everything is propitiatory. I prefer Linux to anything thing but support is a big factor. With windows 10 out too it is way better then Apple. if you just skipped to the end Apple is for rich stupid people who don't want to dip their feet into the technology world and don't want to troubleshoot or problem solve. APPLE SUCKS!

I have no issue with Apple and their products. They're clean, nicely designed, perform pretty well, usually have pretty good build quality (which is hilarious to say, since I see broken iPhone screens week in week out), and do what they do very well. In fact, if I had the money, I'd get a Mac.

 

And therein lies the problem.

 

They are alarmingly expensive.

To buy a Mac that I would use day in day out, I would be spending £900 for a brand new iMac. That's already a lot of money, and that's not even what I would consider enough. I'm a game developer, y'see, and I need plenty of power in whatever box I get. And for a powerful enough Mac, I would be forking out as near as makes no difference £1,500. For a similar price, I could build a Windows system running a 4790K and a 980 Ti without issue.

 

The video at the beginning is fallacious, because Macs - for the specs - are dollar for dollar more expensive than even pre-built boutique machines from guys like Puget Systems and PC Specialist. And yes, some of the software available for it is comparatively cheaper than software that you can find for Windows.

But that works both ways.

 

Also, I would love to release a game on iOS......but there's a problem with that.

 

In the case of Android (note: not crying superiority; just argument's sake), in order to become a developer for Android, you have to pay a one-off payment to become a licensed developer of $25. Nice, eh? You don't even need a specific kind of computer; you can create apps on any operating system and computer you wish.

In the case of Apple, in order to become a developer, you have to first pay $99 for each year that you are a developer. You then have to have a Mac in order to go through the publishing process. And what's more, many ways of making iOS apps require the use of a Mac regardless. I can't create a Mac or iOS game in Unreal 4, for instance, because it requires that I export the results on a Mac.

 

As cool as Apple are, that is just outright ridiculous. You're not paying for the product; you're paying for the brand.

 

TL;DR: Apple products are great...but just stupidly priced.

I don't mind Apple. I mean sure I could build a PC for less than a Mac Pro and be pretty much on par with its performance the only difference is that the Mac Pro is smaller and it's using workstation/server grade hardware so that is an additional cost.
