Weres the news for Broadwell Cpu's tho.. haven't heard anything about it for awhile now :c I bought a Z97 board and a i3-4150 for upgradability, to broadwell, not to get blown off :c

Here's my best, I haven't really tried to go above that... Atleast I have 5.2GHz on all 4 cores plus hyperthreading, unlike some people >>>> @Lays

Air BTW... Gyazo was acting weird...

And here's where it sits these days... 1.20v with an offset of .005v

Damn, this might be the next Sandy Bridge.

one CPU is literally the shittiest sample size of all time, not to mention it's an ES chip.

ES chips always clock higher 90% of the time, that's why 99% of the competitions on hwbot, you can't use ES cpus

6.8GHz is the best I've seen so far for i7-6700K ES but do remember these overclocks are pushing the CPU well beyond normal 24/7 usage.

Might just be CPUz be awkward or something. This one is featured as CPUID's system of the week and it has the same sort of text.

Though I tried a few versions and I didn't see any of those weird inconsistencies.

Pretty sure it looks like that because of picture compression. Take a screenshot of this thread and compress it, you will get the same text.

But which air cooler? It could have very likely been something like a Noctua NH-D15 which performs similar to AIO water cooling

Yea it was probebly very extreme side but still its a air cooler.

Nice...Wonder if they went back to the die being soldered. I wanna upgrade my 2500k so bad. And if skylake overclocks like this I just might not wait for ZEN.

EDIT:says right in the article 1.35v.

They don't solder dies that are small.

This source really isn't credible. I think 2 months ago HKEPC posted screenshots of the i7 5775c hitting 5GHz on air.

All the latest reviews of the 5775c suggest the limit of overclocking is at 4.2 - 4.3 GHz.

Yea it is a little early to say but just guessing we will get better overclocks.

I see no real reason to believe these leaks...let's just wait until the release, hmm?

Why is the God of Hyperdeath SO...DARN...CUTE!?

I've seen this hanging around like a bad smell for the last 24 hours or so.

Overclocking to 5.2GHz on air is simple.

The difficulty comes in when you start benching it and stressing the cpu out.

For all we know, it'll crash the moment you turn on a benchmark or simply overheat after 30 seconds.
I'll wait until some official reviews come out.

Not bashing intel at all because this IS in fact the cpu I'm getting once it's released :)

Quite excited to see if my Hyper Evo 212 will fit this and how well it can do a light overclock also.

lol all 3 sources basically share the same source...

Well cool if it is true, but very likely a silicon lottery I wouldn't count on. And rep of the source is just... blah.

If your cooler fits LGA 1156, it will fit every other LGA115x socket.

0.835V O.o

No validation though

O.o ... I hope that's true ...

Time for the quote a quote to reply to someone...

C States my friend, there's no way in hell I'd be running 4GHz @ 0.608v.

Can't believe people think that a chip would do 5.2GHz on less than 1V... C States people.

I think we all know that we should take this with a huge grain of salt. We just won't know consistent overclocking abilities until the chip hits mass market.

I think the fact that the 6700k boost clock is 200mhz lower than the 4790k tells us all that we need to know.

If the 6700k easily and consistently OC'd to 5.2 ghz, then they wouldn't be shipping them with a lower boost clock than the 4790k.

My prediction. Assume the 4790k typically OC's in the 4.4-4.9 range......the 6700k is going to OC in the 4.2-4.7 range (would not be surprised if a tad lower tbh), yet it will still see a modest 5-10% performance gain over a similarly clocked 4790k.

I don't think intel would release a 5 ghz+ stable capable overclock cpu. Especially not, for a few years of course. Why? They're money hungry bastards...
