So, it seems that the art of the LAN party has died. How many of you guys still do LAN parties?

Me and my group of friends get together and do LAN parties. We have 2 or 3 a month and get together, play some games, go swimming or hop in the hot tub (Depending who's hosting the LAN) and just generally have a great time

 

Many people are dumbfounded that a group of 17 and 18 year olds prefer to have LAN parties over everyone hopping on Skype and playing that way. But the experience can't be beat

Friends? What are those? I will try and go to lan parties at uni(if they have them).

I tend to organise one every year (have the keys to a church hall). Usually a blast- get pizza, all sit around a massive table, rig up projectors and speakers, that sort of stuff. Doing it over the internet just isn't as fun!

I have done like 3 since school got out. 

Civ V LAN parties are always fun.

YES. ALL THE YES IN THE WORLD. My brother and sister and I always used to play the AoE games together. Mostly AoE2, but sometimes AoE3.

We don't always play the same game, we'll have a few guys on one game and a few on another. There's usually 6-10 of us that get together

I had wifi party because lan didnt work :(

sometimes at parties i become constipated from all the food. then i dont wanna poop because its somone elses house :c

12-13 years ago, yes, LAN parties made sense.  Not much LAN support anymore, now they are parties where everyone brings their computer and connects to the internet.  Social aspect remains the same, no girls allowed unless its your friends hot sister

Sometime I do throw or attend LAN parties. It's always fun to meet up in person an compeletly annihilate people in Unreal Tournament.

Nothing beats seeing the look of despair on peoples faces in real life.

no because most of the time it's hard or annoying to set up. You run into a bunch of logistic problems like is the place big enough? Is the internet fast enough? or do you know anyone who's willing to offer such a place?

 

There' s also the problem that fewer games offer LAN support nowadays.

 

It's better to just have group chat on skype.  If you really want the face-to-face experience, just goto an internet cafe.
