All the little pins on the motherboard. Like the power pin and the usb power pins and also the reset pin

Generally, if something does not work the way its supposed to. The fucking waterblock (excuse my language) took me about an hour to install. The backplate did not fit (the screws were not long enough to completly screw throught the backplate so the cpu block always fell off when connecting a tube and so on.) So i just thought to myself: fuck it, i installed it without a backplate and just some counter screws to hold it, and its ok, not great though.

 

Also, 2 motherboard standoff screws just didnt fit. I dont know why but i just couldnt get them in.

Installing the OS, all of the software, copying all of my crap over, and then getting everything set up the way I like.

 

Honorable mention: Trying to close the side panel on HELIOS. TOO MANY WIRES.

when the flipping cpu power cable is just that little bit to short to go around the back of the motherboard try through the hole at the top and into its header, rage

Insufficient light or really tight spaces where tools or my hands have a hard time fitting or reaching can be real motivation killers.

Either the cable management outside the machine or installing heatsinks.

Front panel header..

 

Back in the day, with IDE and multiple drives, daisy chaining and setting the jumpers correctly the first time...or remembering to at all till after initial boot.

Using a non-modular PSU that has cords bundled up to the point where it is hard to connect the SATA cable.. You literally have 1-2? inches of room for hooking up two HDDs.. The WORST idea ever.. :/

Installing the CPU cooler, placing the front panel connectors in the motherboard. 

Also try to manage all the dam cables with a non-modular PSU.

Attaching front panel headers are the worst.

this. omg i hate those little things. and half the time the documentation isnt clear on whats what.

i remember replacing the mobo in my acer predator, took me over an hour to plug those stupid things in. the wires werent labeled, i had to find a pdf of the documentation, which didnt tell me shit. eventually ended up just pluging shit in until it worked properly

I can build a computer in about an hour or so but it'll take me 2-3 hours to get the cables managed. I hate being a perfectionist

No.  But I genuinely enjoy using them. 

this. To some extent i like handling and looking at the hardware every now and then, and new stuff is always fun, getting to look at it, how it's put together. But for me it's mostly about the technical aspect of it, the software, how the hardware works/communicates etc, not so much a fashion statement.... if i wanted to build stuff i could just play with legos instead, that's alot more complicated..

Putting together computers is quite relaxing for me actually. It allows me to escape from the worries and troubles of everyday life, in the same way some people do gardening or car maintenance to escape and relax.

For me it's sleeving cabels. 

Just saying but isn't that like not required in the least? Isn't that a mod rather than a part of building? Unless of course by building you mean even designing and manufacturing your own processers, powersupplies, motherboards, ect. from scratch...

I upgrade bits n pieces from bits n pieces.... yep i love it.

 

Found a XP3200 in a cardboard box with water..(CPU was not submerged but...still) weeks later... front panel USB3.0 reader came about spare, bought a USB3.0 PCI card with 20pin front panel connector, got mobo for $6 on fleabay, have a PCIE 2600XT 256GB for VC1 decoding & the rest of HD playback.

Found 4x1GB in garage, 3 work :)

Rest of tidbits found around the house,..28" 1600x1200 OLD Monitor, USB logi keyb/mouse $7 :)

 

POSTED, WORKING!!!!

Give it a SSD cache drive.

WOOHOOOOO Usable!!!

 

Love it.

Advertised as $0, educational/emailer/lightweight machine.

Taken that day.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Sure I do.  I just hate putting power cables on cases which leave NO ROOM FOR YOUR FREAKIN HAND to go to.
