Rumored "Fury X2" PCB pictured

The PCB for AMD R9 Fury X2 has just been pictured online, showing a massive decrease in size when compared to AMD's previous dual-GPU flagship, the R9 295X2 (pictured above). The GPU will be powered by two 8-pin PCIe power, like it's predecessor it will likely draw power beyond PCI power specifications from these connections.

AMD has said tonight that the R9 Fury X2 will be releasing at some point in fall 2015, which likely means that their are yield issues with AMD's Fiji GPUs due to it's all new memory architecture. 

The PCB is very short for this kind of GPU, but it comes with more height than a standard GPU. The GPU pictured is a single slot GPU, which is narrower than AMD's standard AIO water cooled GPUs. This could be because this GPU will come with a full cover water block, or that this GPU was taken from AMD's Project Quantum, where space saving methods were required by its design.

This GPU will pack 8192 GCN cores and will will pack more than 17 TFlops of GPU power, making this the most powerful GPU ever made, provided that Nvidia do not have similar plans in the works with a Titan X2 or a GTX 990. 

 

 

Due the the size of the PCB I think it's safe to assume this will be a liquid-cooled card just like the Fury X.  Very interested to see what comes of this; most notably the MSRP (< two fury x's please)

Bare in mind that AMD decision for water cooling doesn't mean the card is bound to such solution - the R9 295X2 is the living proof of it.

Of course you could only use 6 slots. ("Only" lol) but that just gives you room in the bottom of the case for your third thick 420mm radiator :D
