what's your worst shipping disaster story?

Syntaxvgm

Lol DHL was the shipper in this case. I've never had a good experience with DHL.

DHL fucking sucks.

Fedex will take as long as possible to get your your package. If you didn't pay for three day shipping, and it's on course for three days, they'll hold it one location away for a few days.

UPS breaks shit. (But they are fast, and as long as they aren't backed up your frequently get your package quicker than you paid for. )

USPS...is...USPS.....

DHL is ALL OF THOSE- Slow, breaks your shit, and more PS that USPS.

Seems that DHL location is a black hole. They are known for employees stealing packages

Strange, getting things by DHL has always been fantastic for me.

I ordered a cable from NewEgg and it took FedEx two months to ship it to me.

UPS once delivered a very pricey carpet to a house two streets away from me, thankfully the owner there brought it over and dropped it off where I was.

USPS once took 24 hours to transfer a 1-day shipped letter from Ft. Hood to Austin (80 miles), took a day to ship it here to a closed USPS office, and waited two days to transfer it to the main USPS station where I finally received it.. ~4 days late.

my worst story? got a 7970 off ebay, was wrapped with just newspaper. so comforting. or, bought some stuff off a fourm member, had to pay 3$ to pickup the package because they didnt pay the full amount

I got a gpu that was inbetween two crumpled pieces of paper, it worked flawlessly.

OH I forgot about this one.....I paid fedex extra to have a very expensive package delayed a day later and scheduled 5-9pm for after I got home so I could sign for it...and they didn't make the delivery. I was available in the morning only the following days, and I had to pay again to make it normal delivery not 5-9pm the next day. I paid for 5-9 Wednesday with guaranteed delivery since it was already in town, not 5-9 thurs and fri then send back assholes. All in all I spent 15$ extra just so I could actually receive the package.

That doesn't sound that bad/reach horror story level, but that's literally the experience I have every time I use fedex. I've never had a good customer experience with them.

Wait was that me that sold you something? Your name seems familiar. If it was me I'd be happy to refund you the $3. I'll just have to dig into my paypal to find the transaction first.

Ordered a 32GB Micro SD Card from someone on the forums a while back via the classifieds section, the envelope they shipped it in arrived, along with some derpy ass picture they drew and put in the envelope to "add rigidity", but the micro sd card which was in a little plastic holder was not in the envelope, either customs decided that they would be a bitch and confiscate it, or they person that sold it just never put it in the envelope.

Many times I cringe when I order via Newegg's UPS "SurePost" or Amazon's Fed-Ex's "SmartPost" free shipping options. Why? Because these packages are dumped off at the local post office and the USPS (not to be confused with the UPS) employee, backed by a strong union that demands pensions, knows that he can make the same amount of income doing a "minimally acceptable" job versus an "excellent" job (and btw, will NOT be compensated anything extra for doing anything more than a "minimally acceptable" job.) Hence, the package tends to get ran over, crushed, thrown, you name it, anything goes except "utterly destroyed" because the 'Murican congress keeps giving the USPS bail-out money to keep that operation going despite year-after-year operating losses. Good game, congress.

I picked up a keyboard and a microphone from PC Case Gear, it arrived in bubble wrap and some plastic postal wrap stuff.

I picked up a capture card from PC Case Gear, it arrived in bubble wrap and some plastic postal wrap stuff.

I sent out a hard drive for RMA, with an inch of bubble wrap on every side. The replacement - shipped in a couple (2 or 3) layers of bubble wrap and plastic postal wrap stuff direct from PC Case gear (it hasn't given me any issues however, so there is that).

Normandy - Intel Core i5 3470, 8 GB Corsair Vengenace LP, EVGA GTX 960 SSC, Gigabyte GA-Z77M-D3H-MVP, WD Blue 1 TB, Seagate 320 GB (steam), Seagate 320 GB (experimental, second OS, etc), Windows 8.1 + Ubuntu 14.10

Garrus - HP Stream 11

I once sent a camera lens somewhere in Scotland, next day, it was on my doorstep.

Went to the post office and complained "But we sent it to the address you wrote on the package."

"Yes! The "FROM" address, the "TO" address is on the other side in larger writing ffs!"

I had to pay for it again! Morons. Other than that, not had any real problems surprisingly. I send using cheap couriers which supposedly are evil, but I double wrap/box the stuff so that it can survive being frisbeed, etc. If it is a large item, I prefer to collect in my own car.

Not necessarily related to tech but shipping. I used royal mail 1st class stamp to send some important certificate to a company for an application on behalf of my parent, the bastards have lost the envelope and now I have to go through the whole process again of sending a new one which will take up to 4 weeks to receive on my end and then RESEND via 1st class special recorded to ensure that the bastards at royal mail send it  :(

SIDE NOTE: They lost another application of my own for something else that I had sent previously.

Not much

I tried to avoid shipping as much as possible.

For purchases visit to local stores

For replacement/repairs visit to nearest service center. Luckily apart from MSI, all others do have service centers in my city.

Finally got PS4 Pro

I ordered an iPod nano to collect in store at my local Tesco. Somehow, Tesco managed to lose it between their warehouse and the store. *sigh*

Edit: Tesco reordered it for me, then lost the new order...

It was just on the box. I just laughed it off, opened up the box to find the special edition of the game I bought (FC4) and a $100 Playstation voucher! Not that much of a disaster.

Oh!

I got another one,

Bought a wireless card off of eBay for my parents PC. At the time I had a picture of myself as my profile picture and the buyer I was buying from was female. When I got my package there was a note saying "enjoy cutie ;)" and some other...things we won't go into too much detail on. But it sorta creeped me out, turns out she was cute anyway so all g :)
