source: http://wccftech.com/asus-unveils-gtx-980-ti-directcu-iii-strix-graphics-card-computex-triple-fan-powered-massive-design/

             https://www.facebook.com/ASUSROG/posts/10153866580387388:0  (Asus ROG Facebook Page)

Unveiled: A Strix variant of the 980Ti using their new DirectCU III design.

Size (Length) of the card is not stated on the couple of reports i have flicked through.

Has "Three large PWM controlled Cooltech fans with 0db technology"

A Poseidon variant was also released which looks strikingly similar to all their other Poseidon cards.

It has that "I'm super mega gaming" look which I don't like, but ok I guess. Also feel free to put some pictures in your post if you want. :)

And here I thought the fans would ACTUALLY glow. It's not all bad, because their coolers have looked worse, but why the glowy fan hype? I'm feeling some 'APU-hype level' disappointment over this cooler. I suppose they could have been trying to emphasize the whole three fan thing, but does that really matter? I don't think the fan count is going to make or break a gpu sale. Their cooler could have like a single fan with a blade broken off and people would still buy it.

Tbh it looked much more exciting when it was announced like this:

ASUS-GeForce-GTX-980-Ti-DirectCU-3.png

I was dead set on buying it,... if it was a little darker like this.. but not now..

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

I knew it was too good to be true. The thought that one of the companies had finally woken up and used LED fans on its gpu.

Sweeeeeeet, now just give us pricing... and backplate?

You can see the backplate in the picture. It's slightly longer than the pcb.

but I can head down to my local microcenter and pick up a reference 980ti for $470... seeing as I bought my 970 for $309, should I try to sell it and get a 980ti and a 1440p monitor?

Curiously enough it matches the Corsair's bulldog design, too bad that has no see through pannels

I'm not really sure why people don't like the look of it. I'm growing super tired of the red and black look, but if I were to get this I'd just plasti dip the red parts white. I'll be interested how it performs though with the change from 2 fans to 3.
