I know jack sh*t about air+radio frequency=battery life so can't judge.

I just hope this concept of producing energy evolves so one day in the far future we won't need batteries :)

Energy harvesting works, but you need to be very close to the radiation source and you could barely light up an LED, charging a battery is a big nope at this time.

This is snake oil.

Meh, I would have been more excited to see a case with a solar panel in the back. "Phone dead? Just flip it over and let it sit for a few minutes by a window!"

When I heard of the "Harvest from air" thing, I thought, oh, a solar panel.

But harvesting energy from wavelengths of data from the phone. No, that isn't a thing.

Not quite what it means, there is a lot of random RF interference all around us in all sorts of bands. So in theory they could design antenna that would only harvest power from something like the radio FM/AM frequencies and leave your cell signal alone.

But how effective it is at gathering energy, and might block your own signal slightly (that much metal around a phone's antenna will degrade signal no matter what), i think this is something that needs 3rd party testing before i spend any money on that.

I highly doubt it's completely a con, 30% doesn't seem too unreasonable...

But what energy is it gathering? Will it interfere with normal device operation? Will WiFi performance suffer for all the nearby devices? If it's absorbing RF signals, that includes anything that utilizes radio technology, including laptops, routers, smartphones, bluetooth devices, etc. If it's real, it's not a viable technology.

But what energy is it gathering?

Energy from the phone and energy from other sources but these are negligible because they are too far away.

For example the transmit power of a GSM cellular station is max. 50w my phone picks up -81dBm=0.000000000007934w.

Even if the the antenna gain of the case is 20dB higher it is still just 0.0000000007934w
