Why did you choose AMD over NVIDIA or Nvidia over AMD?

wth, my first graphics card was an NVIDIA TNT2

Actually my very first was a GT 210 OEM...and you are probably quiet a bit older than me  :P

I chose Nvidia, more specifically, evga gtx 680 signature.

Why? Purely esthetics (performance is pretty awesome too)

Nvidia, because I had 2 AMDs before and both had driver issues. Never looked back since changing to my 680. Looking forward to try 780 for the GPU boost 2.0.

I chose AMD over Nvidia as I could get my 7970 for the same price as a 660Ti, which is out performs. Also helped having the games bundle make the deal even sweeter

I chose nvidia over AMD because I could get the titan shroud on a 780 and not go completely broke. But mostly because it looks oh so nice and I'm a sucker for that shroud ><

Well the 7950 was cheap as hell during the winter sale and it came with a load of good games. Hard to pass up a great deal like that, but overall I just chose AMD because I am a fanboy of AMD, this is a personal preference though and I don't push it on anyone who is asking me for advice on upgrades/builds.

when i was getting my first gaming computer (laptop) i was researching heavily into nvidia cards as there aren't many amd mobile cards, thus if i were to get a desktop it will most likely be nvidia since i know what performance each nvidia card delivers...

I was upgrading my computer, like everything (case, mobo, processor, video, monitors) and I've got Asus 7970 DirectCU II TOP from ebay for £287, and that saved me a lot, £70 over a new 7970, and £140 over 680, if I'd chose nvidia.

I've mostly used ATI/AMD cards through out my Graphics card history.

I've only had a couple of nVIDIA cards at the time of utter domination "8800 GTX" and I had a "6800 GT" earlier.

ATI/AMD has generally offered a better $/performance ratio when I've been buying.

My last graphics card purchases being 2x Radeon HD 6970's were swayed by Price, Looks and Eyefinity. My theme was also red + black, it is much easier to get red graphics cards from AMD.

I've not had any issues with 3D from my cards using Tri3D (Which came free with my monitors)

I like the idea of inbuilt H.264 encoding and shadowplay, I also like the idea of Shield with its streaming from Geforce cards. However I think this will be better with further implementation in other android devices... e.g. OUYA.

I don't think i'll be looking to upgrade anytime soon. But I'm excited to see what AMD have up their sleeves with the HD 9000 series.

I chose AMD because it is cheaper for the same (or better performance), also they look (imho) more "aggresive" in a case :)

I picked Nvidia for me in my rig because I love PhysX and at $289 (after MIR) a GTX 670 was a steal.  As for my most recent card purchase it came with 3 top games and was extremely cheap after rebate at $139 and in selling the games I saved $25 more after selling them last night so I think I did very good in getting a decent card in the 1 GB 7850 for my son and there are plans to add another sooner than later.  It also should be noted that his rig had an AMD cpu in it so kind of cool to have all sorts of AMD in the rig.  If I could ever find AMD memory cheap and if they came out with an AMD motherboard well uh that would have been even cooler.

Bottom line is I will buy whatever is suitable but affordable at the time for my son but for me it is more than likely I will always stick with Nvidia and PhysX.

Too many ****ing games!  Back log 4 life! :S

Chose AMD over nvidia because the 7950 was one of the best bang for buck when I was buying my card in Australia. Never settle further solidified my decision.

AMD 7970 because it goes toe to toe with the 680 for the same price as a 670 the Never Settle Bundle sealed the deal.

I've used AMD for many years, and had only 4 NVIDIA cards in my life, but in my case NVIDIA cards were ALWAYS BETTER (had an mx440, 7600gt, 9800GTX+, and 560-ti HAWK) and all their ATI counterparts.

So my diagram looks like this: I buy an ATI card because it's cheaper, and then when I see it doesn't perform as i expected I buy an NVIDIA card and keep it until it's outdated.

So yeah, I prefer NVIDIA as better cards generally, although I'm not a fanboy and I could buy an ATI card if I cinsidered them better, which I don't right now.

To me it comes o personal preference, they are both god manufacturers, and their hardware is very good, so good you can't really go wrong 99% of the time if you know what you want.

Intel 4770k@4.6GHz, ASUS ROG Maximus VI Hero, Kingston HyperX Beast 2x8GB 2400MHz CL11, Gigabyte GTX 1070 Gaming, Kingston HyperX 3k 240GB - RAID0 (2x120Gb), 2xWD 1TB (Blue and Green), Corsair H100i, Corsair AX860, CoolerMaster HAF X, ASUS STRIX Tactic pro, Logitech G400S, HyperX Cloud II, Logitech X530, Acer Predator X34.

My first card was a 9600gt from EVGA bought at a futureshop. I was new at this, but i liked this card and I liked EVGA's customer service and EVGA's community. Since then I had  gtx 460 from EVGA and then when I decided to get a bew card I decided id get better cooling for less noise and  I got a gtx 670 from Gigabyte. I wanted a gtx 670 because it was Nvidias newest architecture and it was only 10% slower than a gtx 680 for 100 $ less. Sad it wasnt from EVGA but happy that it was quite and fast.

Since then I chose nvidia not because they are better than AMD / ATI , but because I've only known Nvidia with good customer service with no problems such as card failing, thus I stayed with Nvidia.

I don't get why people say this? what games do you play that make you feel this way? what happens etc? I've had no issues and It's leading me to believe the people that are complaining have configured something wrong.
