1st world problems :)

Idk exactly what crap level of Internet my parents are paying for but I only get 1 MB/s down.  1 whole megabyte assuming that Steam showing capital B means byte and not bit.  Hazard of living at home while in grad school...  My idiot father is too stupid to understand how terrible that is and since my parents never download anything or even use Netflix they don't care that it's beyond frustrating to take hours to download games unless they're really tiny crazy old games.

Same in French, it's Mb and MO, though we get all the US and RoC stuff so 90% of the time we still use Mb/MB

What's RoC?

Idk if this counts as a non-techie thing but I came across this on eBay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gaming-PC-For-Cheap/182265486497?_trksid=p2047675.c100010.m2109&_trkparms=aid%3D555012%26algo%3DPW.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D38618%26meid%3De56d72129d004e2fb2d757748989e538%26pid%3D100010%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D24%26sd%3D222238289421

I noticed the following non-techie sounding issues:

1. The case is clearly really dirty inside.

2. The HDD and SSD I can see are not mounted properly.

3. Says there's a second HDD but unless I'm just too tired and not noticing it or I'm not sure I see another one unless it might be hiding under the mess of PSU cables up top.  I swear I only see 3 sata cables plugged into the mb and one of those is for the DVD drive.

4. Says it has 8GB of RAM but it's on 3 sticks if that's true.  Which I'm pretty sure isn't the best way to have RAM installed.  Most techie people would say pairs of sticks are best so you can take advantage of dual channel mode right?

5. No apparent attempts at cable management.  I get that the case is likely crap for that but I still think some slight improvement could be possible.

6. Calls it a gaming PC when it has a G3258 in it and what I assume is some rather old GPU.  Says it'll play "high end games."

Full disclosure I have a G3258 in my secondary desktop along with a GTX 960 and yes I have played games on it that have run decent so far as I could tell.

But I don't think I'd feel 100% comfortable calling my secondary desktop a gaming computer.  Or at least it's not in the same sense that my main desktop is with a 6700K and a GTX 1070.

So what does everyone think?

Am I being too critical or did the seller of that desktop show how non-techie they are?

I'm not trying to be mean but to be honest that listing makes my head hurt.  ?

I have a 100 MBps internet. The default browser in my tablet loads websites at BEST at a speed of....

5 KBps. Kill me, please. Firefox takes 3-6 seconds to load a 200 KB page, that browser probably takes 3 minutes.

Ryzen 7 3700X / 16GB RAM / Optane SSD / GTX 1650 / Solus Linux

Just a bit dusty. Really dirty would be full of hair, dust and other random shit :D

(my friend's grandma didn't have a side panel on her ancient pc, so her cat used to sleep in there because it was warm)

Wow I must've been very very tired.  lol

The only thing I could think of when I posted that was 2x3x3 GB sticks.  I was thinking to myself "does anyone actually make 3GB sticks?"   ?

Yesh it's definitely not the worst I've seen either here on LTT or in real life.

My grandparents have an old computer that I took a look at one time I was visiting.  There was at least an inch of dust everywhere inside it and even on/in the PSU.  I'm amazed the thing didn't burst into flames the last time they'd used it before getting their current desktop PC.  ?

Though I'm also surprised that kitty didn't get hurt from getting too close to a fan or something very hot inside that computer.

My parents blaming my sibilings and I for our slow computer (which was low end even when we got it in 2009), but always asking me to fix any technology when there's a problem...

Also them refusing "its from 2009" as a reason our computer is slow, it has to be our fault. (however we will soon be buying a new family desktop, so they must agree with me to some extent)

It's awful...  About 1.5 years ago when I got my PS4 with a digital download of The Last of Us Remastered it took so long to download it that it didn't finish until about 2am from when I started it whenever that was. I think it was either 6 or 8pm.

So thanks to my crap internet I didn't get to use my PS4 the same day it was delivered...

That was sooo fun... ? /s
