Had a ton of work to do on Friday, had a few "idiot" stories but I forgot to take a mental note and have since forgot all about Friday's stupidity, I should've added those things to my Friday's reply but I got so worked up I actually closed my PC (see the bottom of my reply on page 869, I'm not kidding, I actually shut down the PC and went on to cook diner! lol)

So I run a small PC fixing business and I sometimes have to go out and make a house call to fix an old persons computer and having to explain what you did or understanding what they want done takes forever and can be difficult.

Dumb friend knows someone that received a copyright notice, dumb friend freaks out because he torrents A LOT, somehow "discovers" torrent magnet links and actually thinks torrenting something using the magnet link will prevent him receiving a copyright notice ... I haven't told him yet! lol

Dumb friend is dumb.

I teach a computer course at a community center 3 times/year.  It's mostly elderly/retired people who come.  Most of them actually learn pretty quickly.  My theory is that this is because they actually want to learn, as apposed to the stereotype of "*grumble grumble* Why can't we just use typewriters like in the good old days...*grumble grumble*".

 Part 2

I can't believe it... an i7 4790k, and a gtx 960 for $1400? I could make a build for $1000 with an i5 and a 980 Ti (yes, yes... I know the 980 Ti  wasn't out when this was made. And a CX? Not at bad as most people make them out to be, but still... Especially for a $1400 build. The 750W ones are a terrible value, too. Not that he needs more than 500W, even if he upgraded his GPU. An H60 is a pretty weak cooler... slightly worse than a 212 EVO, which is half the price.

Yay! Crossfiring with an SLI bridge. OMG, you said it again.

*tries to find specs on Newegg*

*reads reviews* THAT'S A TYPO! Please! Nobody's perfect!

I could get a 980 Ti for $1000 and I'd even have 100 bucks left over for the rest of the system! :D

Oh, our dollar is terrible... :(

Aww that stinks. Over here in the us, we can get a 980 Ti for like $600. If you look in the comments of that video I posted a way better build.

yeah, cheapest 980ti is around $800+ CAD, then you have to add taxes, in Quebec (where I am) it's 15% ... so just in sales taxes on a $800 GPU it's $120!!! So around $920 for the cheapest 980ti around here!

At least u have Linus

Just a guy who peaked at building back in the days of the GTX 980. If you see me here, assume i have technical knowledge akin to a committed hobbyist builder back then. If something's changed, you'll need to tell me(nicely plz). I'm probably asking for help with the modern build scene since I have no clue what's going on.

Yeah, thanks but no thanks, I'll keep my job security over the 10% taxes difference, but we actually considered it, so much so that my wife actually became a member of the APGES and was going to register for the APEGA, but then the oil prices and CAD crashed and the job opportunities got worst and worst, so that's not an option anymore!

By that logic, my hard drive should be bursting at the seams with irrelevant data.

eh, I think you're likely to spend less than 10% of your total time here unemployed so it's a good trade imo :P

No, I even told her that is not how it works, she said that's where files go after you delete them from the recycle bin, and that the "fancy" file recovery software I had was redundant.

Yeah, sadly with a family that's not just the job but also the schools, daycare and real estate market that counts, and the net salary bump that we would get would not change anything when you count ALL the expenses that come with kids.

For now what drives us to stay in Qc despite the overall tax burden is the daycare prices and the apartment (we basically bought it at 40% market value).

Back to topic;

WTF is wrong with buyers on eBay??? I was watching 2 different 1150 i3s (one 4160 and one 4170) ... both we used, without a heatsink and the auction ended up a few $$ away from a brand new one! WTF?!?!?!?!?

Just remembered something I saw at work browsing through the records... there was this one page in place of where the document should be, and this is what it said:

"PLEASE REFER TO CD
NOT AVAILABLE ELECTRONICALLY"

Last time I checked, CD was electronic... god there are so many problems with this xD

Welllll, it doesn't move it, but it's not gone, it just labels it as free space on the drive so it can be overwritten, so until it is overwritten it is still recoverable to a certain extent..

One time this girl said she liked programming games instead of playing them. So i asked her what language she programmed them in (a normal question right?). She didn't miss a beat and replied, "Japaneses". I laughed and said, "No, what programming language". She paused and said, "Oh, that one with all the 0's and 1's".
