Experiences with non-techies

I would like to point out that PSVR is already accounting for that, by including a module that increases the system's performance to the point where VR is actually feasible.

(sort of) on that topic, I'd like to know what Sony thinks they have up their sleeve for the "PS 4.5" that apparently will game at 4k... so they're going from some old APU to dual 980 Ti magically at an affordable price?  hm... more than a little suspicious if you ask me

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

To be honest, I'm gonna ignore it for the time being and focus on PSVR as that interests me much more right now.

Though if it is a thing I'll still buy whatever it is they bring out because I'm a shameless PlayStation whore.

Yesterday a client had a big poker tournament and they needed the pc with the program for the results, but they coudnt find it. So I went there and started looking at every logical place. Its a big casino so it took me 2 hours to check everywhere where you can normaly find a computer. But the pc was nowhere to be found.

Its impotant because thats the only pc with the program on it. So after 2 hours I was pretty pissed. I stopeed and started thinking. "What is the stupiest place you can put a computer?"

I went to the furthest bar in the main floor. Opened the drawer under the sink and there it was next to a puddle of water.....

When I told the maintanance people when I found it they werent surpriced at all.

At the summer camp I go to (also my friend's school) the web filter (iirc it's Sonicwall) is really messed up. It blocks all HTTPS websites, which is kinda backwards if you ask me. Also, most proxies are blocked. It's a physical piece of hardware and it does work quite well for the most part. According to my friend that goes to school there (total techie, knows more about software and networking than I do, though I know more about hardware. So I trust him. Anyway.) the people ARE techies. Idk why they did that. If you want, I can send a picture of their setup (courtesy of my friend if he's okay with it.)

EDIT: It's just a misconfigured firewall. My point still stands.

What are the odds?! My high school uses Dell Sonicwall (I assume it's yours too) to block the sites. I don't know about all HTTPS sites, I don't think I've tested it. I don't know if Sonicwall is hardware though, my guess would be that it's just software on the networking equipment. Everyone uses a VPN called Zenmate to get past it though (myself included)

Really? Dell sonicwall is hardware? How the fuck does that work? Have it send all traffic through it in between the client PCs and the server/internet? How would you install it physically?

This just kinda blows my mind, I really expected it to be some sort of software

oh dell sonicwall i have no idea. but essentially it goes between the end users connection and the rest of the network so its another device between you and everything else

uhh let me find an image of it

yeah here this is how it works. i couldnt think of a good way to explain it

So my mom has a daycare. And one day I am sitting on the floor with my laptop. And one of the kids, with real dirty hands come and put his hand on the screen. Guess he thought it was a touch screen. Still haven't gotten it off, and it was 3 months ago.

I hope you didn't forget to feed it. What did its mother say when you told her you had to adopt her kid because it was stuck to your laptop?

That doesn't freaking count! xD In fact, couldn't they just do that now?  I've heard the PS4 menu runs in 4k even though no game can even do 1080p properly... just upscale from 480p and bam!  60 fps 4k gaming! xD    no... no....
