how does one simply hold a game back for 4 extra months and have launch issues :S

i am going to buy gta 5 next week ... hopefully rockstar fixes all the issues people are having by then ... game crashes etc.

When people are wet for it and try to download it all at once. I've had zero problems, other than the initial slow download of the unlock patch.

Ketchup is better than mustard.

GUI is better than Command Line Interface.

Dubs are better than subs

Aside from waiting about an hour for the files to unpack, plus another hour for the servers to calm down, the game and online mode ran butter smooth after adjusting a few graphical settings (reducing draw distance from max reduces a lot of stutter). Totally worth the 60$

I used a 970 btw

Preloaded the game on the weekend (non-steam version). Last night it simply installed 2 updates then launched without a hitch.

 

Don't forget to update your drivers! Both AMD and Nvidia dropped new drivers for GTA5 yesterday. ;)

 

It is a demanding, yet absolutely beautiful game. Brings my R9 290 to it's knees if I turn up the MSAA, lol. :P Running 1080p with everything maxed except MSAA (didn't see much difference with it on/off anyways), stays pretty much pegged on Vsync (60fps).

 

Of course the servers are going to get hammered and run slow on day one. This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone these days. Doesn't matter how much they put in to preparation, the system is going to get bogged down.

The game won't load for me, it gets stuck in a loading screen in the first mission. Decided to re-download the entire game hoping to fix it with that. The driver is updated btw.

So I looked it up this morning, and apparently you need to beat the first mission before you can benchmark? Because it will start the first mission and benchmark at the first time. I didn't play any last night, just changed the settings and wanted to test my rig. This is basically how it ran:

I regret nothing ! I was among 1st people to join onlime. Played for an hour only. Killed some ppl, lvld up, had fun :)

If only I had better GPU though. That VRAM consumption :(

Yeah, I tried to do the same. I wanted to get the graphics settings optimal before actually starting the game. Was royally confused the first time I tried running the benchmark. Ended up quitting after the first cut-scene and just started the game. I'm glad they've allowed the ability to pause the game at any moment, made adjusting the settings easier (except for when I had to restart the game to apply the changes).

 

Was expecting a more standard benchmark like in Tombraider and Shadow of Mordor etc. but this is actually better, IMO, because it gives you real in-game performance, not just some pre-set scenes with the camera swooping through.

Indeed. Just playing around with the settings, at 3200 x 1800 with everything maxed, it estimated you'd need about 5.3GB of Vram. O_O

 

I'm running it at 1080p with everything maxed, no MSAA and so far I've seen upwards of 3.5GB Vram usage on my 290.

Non - Steam version. 

 

Reason I asked is because apparently the steam version has to "decrypt" before you can play it and depending on your system, that could take some time. But you have the non-steam version, so disregard. ;)

Man, why do games have launch problems, why can't simple online games just work from start without much fuss. Can understand MMOs to a degree but hasn't net infrastructure advanced enough so that let's say new MMO launches it doesn't have server problems.

I got an 3770K (didn't run the game on it OC'd cause it gets really hot, especially in my room). I only get 30 fps (it did drop to 25 on one occasion but it was some kind of cinematic so it didn't really affect me)  :(, but I know that 60fps would be impossible with my GPU, still runs almost smooth. Textures are on very high, tessellation off. A lot of settings actually, I'm not sure which I should list here. Ow, grass quality on very high, that's important.  :lol:

 

EDIT: GeForce Experience did recommend a lower resolution (I think 2560x1440) with almost every setting cranked up, but I wanted to see how it'd run on 4K. Unless I run into some serious performance issues I think I'll keep it at that.

 

Well 4k@30 on a 780 is still very decent, that's pretty great. Especially since you have some settings on high.

 

Makes me confident 1440@60 would be zero issue.

I used a 970 btw

We all know why it stuttered when the draw distance is maxed (>.<)

Had it pre-loaded over the weekend through Rockstar Social Club. It downloaded a couple updates on first startup and I was able to play without a hitch. Almost maxed at 1440p with rig below, just have to keep MSAA at 4x and leave high resolution shadows off.

 

Forgot about the Nvidia driver, will do that tonight.

Pre-loaded on Steam, just played an hour.  Runs like a dream!  Wow, I'm taken aback.

 

Quick little benchmark report:

 

On 4790K, GTX780Ti 3GB (rest of specs in sig)...

 

2560x1440 resolution

All settings Very High except Shadows and Water (High)

FXAA on, MSAA off, Anisotropic filtering x16

All Advanced features on and maxed

V-Sync Off (have G-SYNC)

 

Never dipped below 60fps.  Lowest I spotted was 65fps.  In the open world so far it seemed to hover around 70-75fps.  With less going on or indoors (ex: intro mission, safehouse) it was 100-120fps.
