How to install an OS

MegaMooper

I know how to build a computer, but I don't know how to install an OS. I've watched many videos non seem to help. Also I'm thinking of windows 10 when it is released, or some form of Linux most likely unbunto (I missed spelled that I think)

you install by buying/making an install disk, or extracting an iso to a usb drive.

then its just plugging it into the machine you want to install on, selecting the right device in boot menu, and following install instructions...

sidenote: if you cant spell "ubuntu" you might not be ready to use linux yet...

I asked a similar thing a bit ago.

Presuming you are using a USB installer, although I assume this will work with a disc drive.

  1. Insert the disc or USB
  2. Start-up the PC
  3. Spam F12 to select boot device.
  4. The installation wizard for Windows should begin.

Good luck.

From the ppoint you see "Press any key to boot from inserted media" its:

1. Select to Install

2. Select drive and/or partition. For new installs you will need to create partition and format drive.

3. Check that your language and localization things are ok.

4. Wait.

5. Select username, name of PC and admin password.

6. Install updates.

7. Install drivers (not in Linux, most times)

8. Done.
