Im sitting on 10Mbps too.... Im in singapore

I am in the middle of USA and I only get 1.5 down and .25 up. Even though I pay for 10 mbps. Throttling hard

On Comcast in Maryland, getting 10/1 on my 802.11n devices (iPad 3, piece of crap), 33/12 on 802.11ac devices (OnePlus One and my Windows 8.1 Pro PC if I switch off Ethernet, both of which I love) and 1.2Gbps/200Mbps over Ethernet on my PC.

 

The only bad thing: My dad's paying for 50/10, IIRC.

 

WHY can't someone give us the advertised speeds for a relatively low price? SAVE US GOOGLE!!!

 

Of course, I live just far enough away from Baltimore that I don't get any of the services that companies offer in Baltimore (e.g. that new Amazon one-day delivery service), so IDK if I'd even get Fiber if they came to this area. :/

Technically all Comcast internet comes with a data cap, they've just suspended the data cap for the past several years in most areas.

It's important to remember that it's suspended and not gone because suspended means that they never took it out of their ToS, thus they could reimplement the data cap without even alerting customers.

THe thing is the problem with speeds and outages right now are not problems with the underlying infrastructure, its from over selling nodes and not deepening their lanes as they add subscribers. The backbone is pretty robust, its putting the front end in place that lets that many people make use of it at those kinds of speeds.

Uh by any chance are you using a Docsis 2.0 modem? because if youre paying for 50 and getting 30-36 max, thats where the limit on docsis 2.0 is. You would need a 3.0 modem to get the full bandwidth. Not insulting or anything but i had a friend with the same problem because they owned their own modem and comcast "forgot" to tell them they needed to upgrade.

There will not be a data cap for the 2gbps, as for the price who knows  :(  5 grand a month plus state fees, taxes, router leasing, and a 10 year contract.

After all they've done--I will forever only look for housing in places with muni-fiber, start-up fiber(VTEL, RST, etc), or Google fiber. I don't care if Comcast changes in the future and becomes the Jesus company--their practices are just.. horrid now, and will always leave a bad taste.  THAT BEING SAID; I am sure the 2gbps will be data-capped, and you'll only get 100mbps of that :P

I just can't wait for my Local ISP to launch fiber next year since my little town has fiber optic cables ran for the past few years but no ISP provides those Gigabit speeds. Max is only 25Mb/s around me and I live in the country part. The max I can only get is 4Mb/s on a good day. Can't wait for next year to get fiber and also I get to keep my unlimited data plan and still only have to pay $120~150 per month for it even with a Local ISP.

We have whatever comcast gave us when we signed up several years ago. It's been replaced by Comcast, but the new unit is (cosmetically, at least) identical.

Networking is the only area of tech that I can say I know very little about, so I'm not offended in the slightest. :P I have a basic knowledge of routers, but modems are uncharted territory for me.

It's important to remember that it's suspended and not gone because suspended means that they never took it out of their ToS, thus they could reimplement the data cap without even alerting customers.

Wow that's a small data cap. Just my own PC goes through 10TB of data within 2 days.

I get 75 mbps from there service which is nice but not reliable at all, The whole house disconnects randomly.
