For a few medical/lab equipment like the “autoclave”, the pressure gauge is expressed in psi. At 15 psi the inside chamber is now at 121’C and will kill all microorganisms*.

*extreme thermohalophiles not included

I've designed lab equipment where it isn't though. Either way, it's still a valid criticism.

I think I came here in this thread when it was less than a thousand pages (not including the one deleted by mods) and in my mind the first thing I thought is that "why are these people not talking about gay stuff" and more serious, NSFLTT topics are brought up when the CS is more lenient and shorter than it is now.

Then 2017 came -_-

Which one isn't enough? 15 minutes in an autoclave? For some bulky objects and even media, we extend the autoclave to 30 minutes and 15 psi is maintained automatically. Which reminds me, in my first job as a quality control/research scientist the person I replaced actually left it overnight and it dented the ceiling because of too much pressure.

I’m sure it’s summer in Australia or New Zealand. For me I hope to attend even just once winter activities in Montreal but to do that, I have to get accustomed to the cold. I shiver at 10-15’C.

Eh, it depends on demographics and stuff too.  A lot of the users in this thread are younger so their most pressing issue is 'shit I deal with at school' which is fairly easily solved by being in the closet. (Not a long term solution but works well enough at that age)  Also, being an English speaking forum for PC building which skews towards somewhat more affluent (I'm painting with a VERY broad brush here before someone tries to nitpick) western demographics where LGBT rights are less pressing, relatively speaking . You'll see more personal issues, parents, co-workers, ect.  Granted I'm sure we'll see discussion in two days once that thing in Australia is counted.  Same if another significant event happens that it gains attention.

So aside from 'headlines' the members of this thread don't seem to particularly experience major personal issues on that front so they don't bring it up.

I believe Alzheimer's Disease is a much more horrific illness than cancer. The movie Still Alice further confirmed that to me. So dang sad.

My mom is a neurological nurse, she has dealt with Alzheimer's patients.  It is very heartbreaking.

I've noticed, especially after reading an assigned chapter in my psychology book, that Alzheimer's cases are more rampant in first-world countries. I guess diet does play a big role?

Well I've heard that red meat can increase the chance of Alzheimer's. Fortunately in my family, I'm not aware of anyone having it. My great grandma is going to be 86 this month I believe and still going strong for the most part. I mean aside from heart issues mainly afib and fluid retention.

I do think in the next 10-20 years, I could see there being a way to prevent it and possibly stop its progression if caught early enough. Or so one could hope I suppose.
