Worst Tech mistake you have ever made?

Mitch

bought a 550 ti... if that wasn't enough, I bought my 550 ti before buying a decent psu, I think my system died a little (literally)

As in he had no SSD, or as in he used it for storage? In the last case it really isn't stupid at all.

that was the only storage device he had! it was from a thread on this forum i think called 'most hated part of your rig' something like that.

i was wrong about the GPU but this is what he said

For me, it would definitely have to be my storage solution. I'm running a 6 year old 750 GB sata 2 HDD. My PC takes about 12 minutes before I can do anything on it, and loading a map in any game takes about 3 minutes or so  ;). To put this into perspective here's the rest of my rig:

FX 8350

HD 7950 1055/1525

MSI 990FX GD80V2

16 Gb G.Skill Sniper Ram @ 1600Mhz

Coolermaster Silent pro 1000w 80+Gold

CM Storm Sniper

Something Awesome!

Tried to download RAM.. I know, I'm a fail human being.

lol, I know people who share their findings of ram for free on facebook  (some of them are trolling, others think it's legit.)

I killed 3 motherboards within 2 months. Then, I killed an i3 3220 for good measure. (By accident, of course). Now I need to go through the RMA for Asrock and Intel. Apparently, Intel doesn't like RMA because they're asking for a lot of info and whether or not you went through troubleshooting, etc.

Someone i know bought a prebuild PC with a I7 3930X and a ....

GTX 650

("hardc0re gamerz")

Maybe it was marketed towards professional use, instead of gaming. Was it?

I killed one of my titans during an Ln2 overclocking. I've put ln2 in the cpu pot, ram pot and.... fail inc.. only 3 gpu pots, instead of all 4.... luckily I had some titans in back-up.

It was more funny than embarrassing tho, sometimes you do something so seriously that you forgot a little detail

I'm gonna do something this weekend that a lot of people find stupid.

1: I have the i5 2500k yet bought my little brother the 3570k for his birthday and don't care that it is supposed to be "better" than the 2500k

2: I am going to put a laptop 500 GB WD 5400 rpm hard drive into my little brothers desktop because he ran out of disk space and my laptop still has another almost unused 500 gig hdd inside.

3. I think people underestimating the 2500k are morons which in turn makes them think I am a moron.

4. I still hate Asus motherboards which people find me to be a moron for, your cash your choice, my cash, my choice.

Spoiler

The Ghetto nVidia Shield, which costs more than an nVidia Shield.

"BUT WAIT!" proclaims Linus. "This presumes you already have a phone!"

I suppose I can make a ghetto laptop as long as I buy or use a pre-existing monitor, tape an mITX board to the back or an Intel NUC, and have terrible battery life with a rigged system? Seriously, this Ghetto Shield is an incredibly stupid idea. Even more stupid of an idea as the nVidia Shield itself! (I kid, I kid..) :P

I think that the ghetto shield is a cool idea. What is stupid is that you left a dumb ass comment then try to justify it by typing "I kid, I kid"

I hope you had a mobo with either dual bios or an easy way to get back a bricked bios without an RMA
