in your opinion, what made call of duty go to shit. people usually say its the overwhelming add ons and kill streaks and all the oversaturation of stuff that is in a game and how its not a simple run and gun that it once were. but i think COD went to shit(specifically at the start of MW2) because of the boom of the youtube gaming community, hundreds of videos showing you everything from actually playing the game, to hacks and glitches that destroyed every call of duty ever. thats why people say cod 4 and WAW were the golden age of call of duty and it started to go downhill as MW2 started progressing.

imo it got annoying after bo2. since i saw it as pretty much the same thing except for small little features

i would agree with you the glitches are what killed it..., and the fact that they keep relising the same game. But more so the glitches and hacks were they just spawn camp and you die over and over again.

Multiplayer was really boring after MW2. Black ops brought zombies which is the only reason i'd buy a cod now. Which is also extremely lacking.

I hated on MW2 not being able to play a search game because they would purposely be the last ppl alive and then you would have to wait for this guy to try a million times to get a 360 and they would rarely end up getting the shot like i mean 1 in a 100 games not exaggerating and it was sooo bad here in Australia.

Loved Call of Duty 4, loved World at War, Modern Warfare 2 was okay, Black Ops was crap, Modern Warfare 3 was crap. I really think it had more to do with me just getting burnt out rather than the quality of the series dropping though. If I just started playing now I would probably love it.

The engine is/always-has-been horrible, the mechanics are horrible, the guns are unrealistic in every way imaginable, the community is shit, the maps are shit.

 

Only 2 things have EVER been good about CoD, the WaW campaign, and Nazi Zombies in WaW

When it started becoming the same thing over and over and over and over again. They pretty much lost all imagination after Modern Warfare 2/Black Ops; now it's just the same crap only being shouted at by 8 year olds. 

 

The only thing about COD that is any good is zombies. And they COMPLETELY fucked that in Advanced Warfare.

after MW2, before it was finished really. The true IW games are the only call of duty games to me, that COD,  COD2, COD4, and MW2. In fact, if that IW thing didn't happen, MW2 and newer call of duties woulda still had dedicated servers and mod tools.

The thing is with COD is its a very easy game to pick up and play, unlike battlefield or counter strike it doesn't take a large investment of time to be decent at it. As long as you have decent aim and have a grasp on the maps its an easy game and that's one of the reasons it has such a dominance in the gaming community. Also zombies is fucking great.

Call of Duty 4 started the decline of the series. The World War II theme kept a majority of the kiddies and douchebags away but the modern military theme attracted them and all the awful things they bring with them.

I said the heavy crunch on developing games on a 2 year cycle is what killed it, though is not the only reason, another being that due to its popularity activision tightened what changes and what not since the games being similar caters to the mainstream audience, they buy cod because they like what cod offers, that basic marketing, its the same reason why iphone mostly get minimal upgrades, to not break the familiarity, also the loss of dedicated servers is being cheap fucks, matchmaking is to control the experience and no mood tools, well how are they going to sell dlc

Black Ops was the last COD that was fun for me. The series went into WW2, the near future, and then the Cold War/ Vietnam Era. After that they ran out of ideas. "Oh let's just go a little further into the future! Great!" was not what I wanted to hear from the devs.

CoD 3 was pretty fun, too bad it never made it to PC
