2GB graphics card or 4GB for gaming

Is 4GB graphics card an overkill for gaming? I'm talking about GeForce GTX 760 Phantom 4GB

2GB is fine for 1080p if youre not trying to run ultra textures on something like skyrim or crysis

but your GPU cant really run those games at ultra so 2GB should be enough.

4 gigs would only be worth it on higher end cards.  If you're getting a 760 stick with 2gb IMO.

The 4GB variant is meant to used in SLI, that is why it has the double Vram, you would need a more powerful core to utilize the 4GB Vram with just a single chip.

For 1080P 2GB is just fine.

It's better for high-resolution gaming, or 4k viewing (with a 4k monitor). If you really want more memory, get a 3GB card. You don't need 4GB for normal gaming unless the game calls for one.

That's not true I'm playing Bf4 on ultra without AA and ist a steady 35-40 FPS with a

3GB of 1333Mhz Ram

Additional VRAM on a GTX 760 is useless. I've only once seen a GTX 760 benefit from more VRAM, and that was Far Cry 3 on Ultra at 4K, where the game was at 6FPS on 2GB and 10FPS on 4GB.

tl;Dr - 4GB is worthless and don't let anybody tell you otherwise.

If you already sunk all that money into a 4690k platform you might as well not cheap out on the GPU, which is the most important part of the build anyways. Anything less than an R9 290 is crazy with such an expensive CPU+board+cooler combo.
