Battlefield veterans team up for space sim Into the Stars

XTankSlayerX

^SOURCE^

Battlefield, Lost Planet, Medal of Honor, Shadows of the Damned and MAG count among the credits of the four members of new studio Fugitive Games, who are now “on the run from traditional development” and looking to “build games that focus on fun and community first”.

Into the Stars is the first effort from the four. Players will take on the role of captain and set out to explore a “massive solar system”. Players outfit the ship, select a crew, scavenge resources and battle enemies. You manage every action – steering the ship and all controlling systems.

The Mac and PC-bound project is now on Kickstarter, with a goal of $85,000. The soundtrack comes via Jack Wall, who composed the score for Mass Effect, and as such I had to physically restrain myself from getting out my credit card as soon as I loaded up the trailer and heard the first few bars. You have been warned.

This looks awesome. I've always have loved games from DICE, all of the battlefield games are great and this looks amazing as well.

Just watched the ign video on YouTube. Seems very interesting. But I swear to god they mentioned the ability to manage your own crew like 15 times.

I wonder if I can manage my own crew.

Yeah I wonder if I'll get full control to manage my own crew

This game looks pretty cool! I might get sucked into it like FTL

God damn i really want this to be good.

Star citizen and elite:dangerous have both let me down so far.

Inb4 star citizen isn't even barely done, the image they have for it doesn't seem appealing to me

Specs: 4790k | Asus Z-97 Pro Wifi | MX100 512GB SSD | NZXT H440 Plastidipped Black | Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler | MSI 290x Lightning | EVGA 850 G2 | 3x Noctua Industrial NF-F12's

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it

Battlefield veterans and the best name they can come up with is called "Into The Stars" with a cheesy design?

That's the only thing that bothers me about the game - other than that it looks good.

Never backed a kickstarter before but seriously considering this one just to get my hands on the soundtrack, looks promising.

It just looks awfully cheesy, with arcade/micro managed combat and resource collection. The features they talk about in the video have been planned for Star Citizen (and somewhat Elite) for quite some time now.

I can't remember what the game was called, but basically you had to have a couple players, and each person managed one of the ships subsystems, but you couldn't interact with the other systems, even if you're the captain. So you had to have one person for each thing, working seperately, but being directed and co-ordinated by the captain. It was rather clunky and hard to get into though. Great premise all the same, I'd love to see a AAA production of a game with the same dynamic.

It seems like every company is on that "We need to build Space Sim games now" all thanks to Star Citizen. Star Citizen will be the one to succeed since more people backed that game.

Best LAN game for Trek nerds. :D

Game looks good, but the space sim genre is filling up fast.  Hardly a bad thing, I suppose?

That's good. I want more space sims to be developed. I won't be playing this one most likely though as it doesn't look extreme enough for my tastes.

It looks good, real good, but I already backed Star Citizen and that seriously feels like the only game worth being backed (along with Kingdom Come: Deliverance). Still, I hope this makes it.

I'm surprised a bunch of people here think this looks so good. It looks pretty crap to me. I don't get it..

The good thing is that you don't  have to get it. It doesn't appeal to you, it is that simple. Personally I think it looks good because I love space games , I love choosing what to do, I love that my decisions will have some form of impact and I love great music—which, as it sounds, this game will have. It probably won't be a super awesome-never-to-be-beat game, but it does look good.
