I'm trying to get Skyrim modded as much as possible without dropping below 30-33 commonly (don't mind occasional near waterfalls etc) for my brother, but when it comes to grass and ENBs no matter what I pick or use, the performance is hit real hard. What can I do to improve performance, or what mods should I replace/uninstall? The main thing he cares about is visible grass. He absolutely hate walking and seeing bare ground everywhere (who doesn't, right?).

As you can see I tried Dat Grass but it killed the system. 12-20 FPS everywhere but inside houses...which is very disappointing. Any suggestions guys?

 

Specs on the system being used (not the one in my sig/profile):

 

CPU: i5-4690k @ 4.2Ghz

MOBO: MSI Z97-G55

GPU: Sapphire 280  @ this setting
RAM: 8GB

OS: Windows 10 (or 7, as it is a dual boot)

Well after creating a backup of my modded Skyrim, I tried this. Whilst it did bring down file size, it made no difference FPS and I think it caused Immersive Armors/Weapons to freak out because after I used the program, the mod started crashing me like crazy.

 

However, I did manage to fix Dat Grass. I was finally able to lower the density of it (wasn't accepting my changes) by figuring out that my Skyrim install was still "remembering" my Skyrim Flora Overhaul. Since that killed my system for the sack of a million lupins, I uninstalled it. Everything is fixed now. I do, after a while of playing, have crashes every now and then but that happens to me on an unmodded Skyrim too so I guess this is as best as I can get it. haha seems stable enough for my brother anyways.

These, with a oc'd GPU/CPU, gets me around 33-41FPS @ 1920×1080. If I go really high, like on a mountain in a really snowy place, it could drop to 25 FPS. But seeing as how my b rother rarely goes so high up it won't matter much. And if it does, well, he can only turn down the resolution a bit I guess.

 

If anyone wants to see what it looks like, I posted some screenies in the Screenshot Thread. I just need to figure out how to make the nights look less dark (or make lanterns/torches brighter) with the ENB in question and everything is perfect.

I played a dual wield melee, a mage and a 2h melee. All three are in the mid 50´s. Dual wield melee with medium Armor + Bow is my Favorite. I liked the Mage too, but the mana Reg is pain in the Ass until you can entchant your stuff.

I modded the shit out of Skyrim with 75 Graphics Mods and alot of Item and Follower Stuff.

Sounds good, though not sure if it would belong here or in member reviews.  Guess it depends on if you're just focusing on skyrim or relaying a slightly more comprehensive account...hell posting in both with the relevant data is probably what will happen sooner or later.   Regardless, I for one would be interested to hear about your experience with it thus far, especially as I have zero interest in contributing to the G-Sync money grab and am fairly sure I'm going to be sailing under a red banner with my next rig for some freesync play.  You jumped up from a 280x right?

 

On a different note;  I can't believe how many mods I've had to download and update today.  Wanted a little bounce for the temptress race, so I started off with HDT Bounce and Jiggles Sexy Races Redux  (was a HDT Breast And Butt Physics mod user before)  Now I got to backtrack to find out where I messed up cause the struggle against crashes and flatout daffy shit has returned. ;  Had a good thing going for a while, some races were UNPB others CBBE so I could try any armour one way or another.  But now...puffff....I need coffee.

 

As for my choice between Ladies and Warmaidens.  I'm still on warmaidens version of Aela as well for the time being, did grab Ladies version of astrid though for now since it's a separate ESP.  Think I'll be swapping her out once I fix my install.

Anyone here travel down this road before?  Come out of it without a scratch?

Only available at *:`CriticalErrorFunc()`SiteCannotBeNamed.src: Account warning automatically applied* uploaded by user S666.  Has a unique body, and is not without it's issues but it works and looks pretty effing gr8 IMHO.  She's got havok enabled hair and clothes, really makes most of my skyrim seem soullessly inanimate.  Look forward to seeing how Ciri manages following around a lvl109 legendary dragonness in modded skyrim .

I've tried it once but I didn't manage to get it working. I made a backup of those mods so it didn't affect anything.  

 

Well I got it to work.  Unfortunately it won't help my current playthrough, but it will be fantastic for future runs.  I was hoping (desperately) that I could load up 13 esps into 1 without affecting the the armours equipped on PC and followers in the current save file via MO's virtual folder magic.  However that is not the case.  All the armours are in the game, as far as I checked, but they're effectively starting the mods over from scratch and have to reforge, enchant and equip.  On such an advanced play it would be a rather large undertaking.  And yes it even says so in the FAQ, but trying it out was less long-winded than the wall of text on the nexus page...(Yes I'm one of "those" people)

 

Think I'll try again with other kinds of mods that are more environment and texture oriented.  Will defiantly be using it on armours in a new playthrough though.  Pretty awesome tool.

Depends if you played skyrim on a console before, and how far you got.

 

First of all, go get SKSE then SKY UI then All the unnoficial patches *Assuming u have all DLCs*

 

Then after that, go to nexus, skyrim, categories, and search whatever you like. its better to find mods that catch ur eye as opposed to me telling you which to get

So true; as if the commute there isn't a big enough pain, the to-and-fro water jug just adds insult to injury. 

Still, got to say I hate surprise bears in the rift more.  I swear there are more bears than bandits in skyrim, and at my characters current level they seem to roam around in packs.  Every other dragon fight(elemental dragons mod) I'm in there seems to be this cluster frack of bears that just show up behind me.  I've a whole new appreciation for Temba Wide-arm now, think she may actually be Dragona Bornas Amouras long sought after soulmate....Frack'en bears >:[

Though it's taboo to mention non-nexus mods, Amorous Adventures has recently had an update to include Mirabelle and I liked it!  Author(FoxFingers) has also stated that they're going to add some events to Morthal soon(hopefully this weekend).  Morthal, which many may have forgotten is a hold capital, so this'll be a reason to go there at least

So keep an ear out for it and get started on the rest in the meantime

Anyone have a recommendation for storage mods?  Been using and abusing convenient horses' absolute access and no weight limit for a while.  However I would like to get rid of CH because I want to ditch the script load (sick of seeing it's spam in the logs).

 

Don't ride horses anymore, except blaze... cause he's effing awesome, and don't feel any particular need to prove anything by being anal with inventory management anymore after losing half a dozen saves.  Anything that has a hotkey to access massive safe storage from anywhere at any time without whipping out a spell or whatnot would be ideal.
