I just realized that I personally am in a hell of a position that most people are never in. I'm only 16 years old yet I work in radio and it got me thinking, what type of job did you have at my age and what's your current age and occupation?

 

Edit: I should probably mention my position(s). I board op for many of our remotes, work a lot of our remotes from on location when I'm not board opping, I help build company PC's, and am On-Air from time to time, by the time I am in the spring of my Senior year I will actually have the Night Show to myself, so I'll be the first person under 18 to have their own On-Air show in our station's history, also sine most of our night time listeners are in High School I'll be a host they can relate to

at your age i was a professional leecher from my parents lol... i feel so inexperienced , i'm almost 19 and ive never had a job in my life apart from mowing my lawn a few times

well last year I worked on a millitary base for the royal canadian air cadet league. logistic was my job description.  im now 17 and I am now applying for that job again. either that or my pilot liscence . other than that I develop games.

 

looks cool. but tbh im kinda at a lost nowaday.

When i was 16 I was working at staples Canada and did some other casual jobs as well as being the head Audio/Visual Technician  for government union events. Now I still work at staples but am taking physics at a university.

I'm 17, and an unemployed high school sophomore. No available jobs even for adults in this miserable little village.

 

So I'm just basically leeching from my parents and relatives, until I get out of high school, and get my 6 or 9 months long conscription served. After that I'll be leeching some more in the form of social support as a polytechnic student / university student if I get any kind of future higher level education... So I'll be basically leeching from tax payers instead.

 

Man I'm one useless piece of s***... Just leeching and doing nothing for it.

well i just got my first job @ 18 , working in a supermarket so nothing that special tbh.

I worked out in Italy for work experience with a company called Interski, when I was 14. Now I help to run a shop with my parents and I have more work experience with a snowboard company called DC coming up, and some work with a representative from Lib-Tech too. 

 

May not be actual jobs so to say, but this kind of experience in the industry I want to work in is what will most likely put me on the front line for jobs. Especially in seasonal jobs working with bigger companies.

When I was 14 I started working in the family farm, like formally working even though I did the same stuff before, I got more responsabilities and $. Growing Strawberries and Cucumbers mostly but also Squash and in random seasons Onions.

At 16 I worked at a local hardware store, at 18 I ran the small engine department at that store. At 24 I graduated from a university and became an engineer, I'm 25 now.

Worked at my Uncle's metal/wood/powder coating shop when i was around your age. Now i am a 33 year old Lineman.

Find someone with a welder and ask him/her if you can try it out. In most cases they'll teach you. Start out with MIG or TIG. The MIG is the easiest because it's basically a hot glue gun for metal^^

The TIG is a bit more involved. But it's much easier to get really nice welds with it + Welding aluminium is much easier with it too.

 

As for the main topic.

At 16 i was working for my dad while going to school. I was a chief executive officer in his company. (Yes i know. It was my dad so the title doesn't mean squat. But i did all the jobs that the position demanded)

It was an excavation company. So i found myself in the excavator and on site quite often. We mostly insulated house foundations. But we also built them and built sewage plants. + Any job that came our way really.

When i wasn't working for my dad i worked in a garage (I was studying to become a mechanic) + Their body shop. And i continued at that pace until i was 18. At that point i started a sister company to my dads company and did similar jobs.

At 21 i got burned out as a large corporation here in sweden screwed me over and soon after that i filed for bankrupcy. But it was fun while it lasted

 

Now i'm in uni prep before i start studying again^^

Too big of a loser for such things. Tho I kinda have the feeling that compabies in my country underestimate youn ppl. But yeah, we're also in crisis and 30% of young ppl dont have jobs so I bet that even if I tried I wouldnt get a job because theres like a 20yr old pro it guy...

Couldn't find a job at 16. Applied everywhere. I assume it's because I had no job experience, which doesn't make any sense because how the fuck do you get job experience when no one will hire you because you have no experience......

 

Finally got a job at 18 when I started delivering pizza. Worst job imaginable, never do it, it's a complete fucking ripoff.
