What If scenario - mechanical keyboards cease to exist

ManOfDisguise

more of a thread for fun

Boom! One day you wake up to find out your mechanical kb is gone!(if you own a mech kb that is). You soon find out that mechanical keyboards have ceased to exist and dissapeared.

Also say which brand and model would you buy and say why.

I personally would get a simple, wired, membrane keyboard(nothing gamerish even though i game a lot) because i see no point of buying gaming membrane keyboards(other than maybe backlight but even normal keyboards have that).

It wouldn't be such a problem for me to get used to it as I think mechanical keyboards arent even much better if better at all compared to membrane(however i only used mx blues and now am using mx browns). It would take me around a week(but probably even less than that) to get used to the new keyboard.

Specs of my PC:

CPU: AMD FX 8350  Motherboard: Gigabyte 990XA UD3  GPU: Gigabyte GTX 770 Windforce 2GB  HDD: WD Green 2TB SSD:  Corsair Force GT 120GB SSD RAM: Corsair 8GB(2X4) PSU: CoolerMaster G650M

I don't use a Mechanical keyboard..

If I were to use one I would get used to a different keyboard quickly, since my school doesn't have mechanical keyboards :P

I'd go back to my old Logitech Illuminated (scissor, membrane) quite easily.

Topre is still mechanical.

no, its not actually. There is no physical switch like the is with a cherry switch. They are a capacitive switch.

seeing as i made my keyboard and numpad i would probably just make new ones now if cherry mx switches, alps switches, buckling spring, all vanished i would just have to find a new switch or recreated buckling spring setup for my own keyboard

I'd go with chicklet.

Or pen and paper.

I'd fight to the death if someone tried to take my k95 though

Well... I may start said day with a few tears for my now missing Logitech G710+ (which i love to death btw) and now.. at this point I would go get myself a Logitech G19s as its just about the only membrane keyboard i can tolerate these days. If i had the chance i would hunt me down a keyboard with topre's as i hear they are quite nice as well :)
