Anyone here into firearms?

2spukie4mee

You didn't know that .308 is practically a laser beam?!?!?

I've had the chance to shoot a FA MP-5 a couple of times at matches. One of our local guys owns one and lends it to the club for special stages. Its a crazy amount of fun, but you really can go through ammo at an alarming rate.

Yeah I had a gift certificate from my birthday recently to a local gun club, could have rented a full auto, but they had nothing that interested me, ended up buying $100 worth of 5.56 and a 40rnd mag. All they had to rent was AR's and an uzi, I was hoping for something like an MP-5 or an MP-7....maybe an MG-42 if I was lucky (my dream gun).

MG-42's are gonna be real hard to come by stateside. :( I would like to try an MP-7, but since those are all post 86 its even tougher to find one to try out. :(

Interesting seeing this thread. I also have my CCW, and I carry a Glock 19 Gen4 -- looking to get a Glock 23 Gen4 eventually, probably when I sell off my other 9mm, which is a Taurus 917C (basically a PT92 with a shorter barrel, uses same mags as a PT92). My wife carries a Taurus PT140, wants to get a PT111 -- not sure on G1 or G2 yet. She also has a Sig Sauer Mosquito -- got it right before the .22LR started disappearing, so lucky us on that and it's been a pain trying to find it ever since without having to pay a hell of a premium for it. I've also got a Smith and Wesson 4026.

On long guns, we have a Winchester SXP shotgun and a Mosin Nagant. The latter needs a good cleaning, but it was practically spotless when it came to cosmoline, so it shoudln't be too difficult when I can actually put the time into it.

Wife's build: Amethyst - Ryzen 9 3900X, 32GB G.Skill Ripjaws V DDR4-3200, ASUS Prime X570-P, EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 12GB, Corsair Obsidian 750D, Corsair RM1000 (yellow label)

My build: Mira - Ryzen 7 3700X, 32GB EVGA DDR4-3200, ASUS Prime X470-PRO, EVGA RTX 3070 XC3, beQuiet Dark Base 900, EVGA 1000 G6

I really like guns, but I'm not one of those "I plead the second" guys. I shoot because it's fun and that's the only reason. Anyway, is there any gun nuts out here? Just to start, what's your favorite gun that you've shot?

@Real_PhillBert said I should check out this thread. I'm a pretty big gun nut. I work on all my own guns and have plans in the works (waiting financial backing) for building quite a few guns. My favorite gun that I have shot so far was my FN FNP-45 Tactical with a RMR sight, "Mrs Smith". That lady was a nail driver at any distance. I wound up having to sell it to my best friend to cover some emergency expenses. I have missed her since the day we parted and I carry her memory like an open wound, but at least I know she ended up in good hands. Lesson learned: never sell a gun. Take out a payday loan before selling a gun to cover expenses.

I would like to try out an M-14/M1A but havent had the chance since I spend way more time on pistol ranges than rifle ranges. Still would like one ;)

My daily CCW is a 3rd gen G19 :) It's not a gun that I have ever been in love with but it does what it does very well.

My current stamp that just went pending is for a SilencerCo Saker 5.56 suppressor :P

My first stamp was for making my AR into a 10.5" SBR. Almost immediately after I found out how loud that was I filed for the suppressor lol.

I want a silencer for one of my subsonic guns, it is almost silent. Pretty cool stuff. My .556 is for long range, when I was in law enforcement I carried it with an EOtech now I have a Swavorski scope.

I've shot many guns, I thought it was boring. I like building PCs better.

This will be my first suppressor. I have shot a few in the past but never owned one.

Obviously I dont have the SBR set up for any real distance. Actually right now I still have a fairly cheap Vortex red dot on it. I would like to step up to an Aimpoint but other things always seem to take financial priority.

i've fired big revolvers, but damn, you have to be a sasquatch to handle one of them for any a length of time.

it was easier to justify this stuff when I thought I might use it on patrol, but it has now become harder since I was laid off.

I love guns but living in a country that has no rights the closest i've been to a gun is when im being harassed by police :( You should be one of those second guys, without people like that the government would have turned USA into Australia lol.

Obviously i don't mean those stupid people bringing AR's into star bucks like complete idiots and the ones who purposely argue it all the time with police over basically nothing.

@Trik'Stari

Nice setup. Unfortunately that AD, in modern parlance, is more an ND, Negligent Discharge. Super sorry you had to have that experience.

I was always into guns, but never owned or fired one until very recently. Got my head into the game thru YouTubers like Hickok45 and IraqVeteran8888.

Currently own two, a sporterized Springfield M1903, on the auction block right now, I really wanted a Mil-Surp M1903. Got this as a way to try to trade and buy my way into mil-surp.

Always wanted a classic bolt action.

My other baby is a CZ-75 clone by Canik from Turkey, really like it. Runs smooth and is pretty darn accurate. Need to get more time at the range but money is tight. Did a little work to her and will maybe do some more as time goes on. Not really looking to have a massive collection but there are a select few guns I intend to own at some point in my life.

Yes. Mostly hunting though, so hunting weapons. A side by side shotgun and a .308 Win hunting rifle. The hunting rifle is suppressed :P

The M-14, or more likely the M1A, is on my shortlist. Some guns just have some kind of animal magnetism for me. Can't explain it.
