Saddest thing that has happened to you in tech?

BurgerBum

My story of the saddest thing thats happened to me in tech, and also the reason why i REALLY got inot computers:

So back in 2008 i had just left public school, and started homeschooling. my parrents decided online schooling was the best. (wasnt. xD )

after our gateway computer with a pentium4 and MASSIVE CRT monitor died my mom was like ''lets get some new computers!'' and ofcourse im all for it.

so we go to best buy. *shudders* and we end up buying some desktops one with an i3 and the other with a pentium. (i cant tell you specific models. didnt know back then. also niether had gpu's)

so life went well from there.... but, my father has parkinsons disese, and loses some motor skills when his meds wear off.

my father played alot of online poker.

my father practically worshipped iyogi.

so you can see where we spent well over 5000$ on continuisly having iyogi fix our computer cause' he'd accedentally click the wrong link (not like he knew it was the wrong one either, but still).

so we kinda put his desktop on the shelf.

also, my mom legitamately has a hard time working the microwave. (she calls me in to help to this day) and has been using computers scince the first public release of windows. i....... i dont know how she f***ed up that computer...... i just... *dies*

anyway, so i had a trashed pentium and an i3 machine with a few viruses left. (i removed quite alot)

my mom decided scince porn ads, iyogi fakers, and ''security shield professional pc fastering!'' had killed the i3 machine, that i should take it and the pentium machine to the drive way and kill them. with a hammer and drill.

i died inside. i had just recently learned that the good fix for what we needed was just clean out the dust, replace the HDD get a new copy of windows, and possibly re-apply the thermal paste for the cpu. (also i coudlnt help but cringe at how horrid the cable management was, or.... lack ov.)(haha.... behemoth reference, lol)

so i cried and listened to some really emo music while i destryed those PC's cause my mom didnt understand how they worked, and ruled with an iron fist.

well.... long ass post, long ass story.

whats the saddest thing thats happened to you that was tech related??

i know that, but i was 13 or so and honestly they were 100x overkill for what me and my mom needed at the time.

i played flash games and she went on facebook. xD

I knocked over my build. From the table on the floor. The resevoir which was only mounted with velcro because I didn't want to drill holes fell off and then because it was a glass resevoir shattered. Multiple thousand Euros were lost that day.

RIP the Purple Beast.

My pc is from 2005.

There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

Just some helpful stuff: You're - You are, Your - Your car, They're - They are, Their - Their car, There - Over there.

Only twice? I had to RMA my 290 3 times in 2-3 months. Bought a 970 shortly after i got it back the third time.
You can't be serious.  Hyperthreading is a market joke?

I had just finished sleeving all my wires and sata cables after my order from MDPC came in and was putting everything back together again back on my X58 machine 3 or 4 years ago right after I the Corasir force GTX 60gb SSD came out.  While trying to plug it back in at a weird angle...broke off the sata connecter. :(
