Come on, Amazon was started in Bellevue, WA. Shouldn't Amazon go back to it's roots to start this?

I'm really glad it's not coming to Michigan. I don't want to pay taxes on things I buy from Amazon.

RIP every store competing with Amazon, the only reason for best buy was they pricematched amazon and you didn't have to wait for Amazon to ship it.

There is no way they could stock everything they have online. It would probably be limited to electronics and clothes.

Wonder how this will affect sales tax.

 

I use Amazon quite frequently as I have a card that gives me 5% off all Amazon purchases AND I don't have to pay state sales tax.

 

If they open a store in your state, you will then have to pay sales tax both at the store and online.

CA wins with just that... I eat it for lunch and supper when I'm in CA because I can't get it anywhere in the midwest. In & Out is easily my favorite fast food place, simplicity at its finest.

It's mainly going to be a showcase of their products and you will be able to order stuff on the spot and pick it up at the store when it arrives and return stuff directly to that store too. Personally I find that really awesome and I think they will open a lot more stores after this one. There is a Greek online store that you can order stuff online and pick it up from any of it's multiple physical locations without having to pay any shipping.Right now this store is among biggest retailers in Greece and has lower prices than anyone else.  If Amazon implements it like that and they have an amazing service in their hands.

Ah yes, Manhattan. I live 6 hours from there, even though I live in New York. To be honest, I really don't think Manhattan would even be big enough for an Amazon store. Just my $0.02.
