There people are not the smartest hammers in the shed. If they had only taken an hour to read how their product/service works, then another hour to read how internet works and about Streisand effect. Then maybe they would've told their significant other (or whoever they were taking these pics for) to shove it, when they ask them for pics.

And if you still feel the need and this happens, own up to it: "Yeah, that's me/who I'm banging, jealous?" and move on.

These are just naked people, most of who have already exposed themselves in the name of "art" (seriously using that term very, very, loosely when it comes to anything these people are involved with). We can see porn on the internet any time we want, just cos these people are celebrities shouldn't really make that much of a difference. Just another bunch of naked people, just some of them have more money than the people doing porn and apparently more respectful occupation.

When you consider the fact that many US politicians are former lawyers, this explains why net neutrality is dead here.

Space Journal #1: So Apparently i  was dropped on the moon like i'm a mars rover, in a matter of hours i have found the transformers on the dark side of the moon. Turns out its not that dark since dem robots are filled with lights, i waved hi to the Russians on the space station, turns out all those stories about space finding humans instead of the other way around is true(soviet Russia joke). They threw me some Heineken beer and I've been sitting staring at the people of this forum and earth since.

If they succeed I am going to sue google for failing to cure cancer and stop world poverty.

Now you're victim blaming Apple. Apple never asked to have their systems/services attacked. This is the fault of the attackers, not Apple.

Also, straight from the iCloud EULA:

APPLE DOES NOT REPRESENT OR GUARANTEE THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE FREE FROM LOSS, CORRUPTION, ATTACK, VIRUSES, INTERFERENCE, HACKING, OR OTHER SECURITY INTRUSION, AND APPLE DISCLAIMS ANY LIABILITY RELATING THERETO. http://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/icloud/en/terms.html

Either I missed something or that was added after the breach. I have only recently (august) searched the EULA for such terms and they did not return any results for attacking, hacking or security.

I went through a very, and I mean VERY bitter break up with an ex years ago. We're talking ultimate betrayal, talks of marriage all going to shit and so on. I had very intimate photos and videos of her. And they stayed away from any server. I do a way better job at not leaking nudes than a Billion dollar company. That really speaks volumes. Paper thin security vulnerable to basic brute force methods and trust to complete strangers to keep tabs of your private photos was their downfall. We can point fingers all we want, it still doesn't change the fact lack of personal responsibility and acting like entitled babies are the core of this issue.

I'm not saying it's their fault that their personal property was stolen...but seriously, you shouldn't have anything you don't want to get out on any electronic device with an internet connection -- especially if you're famous and have a massive following of potential people who want to target you.

I'm not saying it's their fault...but it kinda is.

Paper thin security vulnerable to basic brute force methods and trust to complete strangers to keep tabs of your private photos was their downfall.

But it wasn't done through brute forcing, it was social engineering.

Even the most secure password is a shit password....so

Uhh...no.

by the logic they're using, Google profits from war, natural disasters and from the holocaust.

just because Google will link to something a user searches for, doesn't mean they're responsible for it.

The Fappening was really shitty for the celebrities who have had their privacy invaded, but they can't blame anyone except the people who went out of their way to distribute the images.

You can't sue over this, the violating party is unknown.

I run my browser through NSA ports to make their illegal jobs easier. :P

they can sue anyone who distributes their copyrighted images for a profit. and since they took the picture, it is their copyrighted intellectual property

First off, Google didn't host the images.

Second, it wasn't like someone went in and hacked into iCloud, and essentially could just scroll through at their pleasure. They had to have known the emails, and then brute-forced or somehow phished the passwords from the celebrities' accounts.

Google is not a distrutor and the leak was from iCloud and Apple's terms of use state that anything done, put on, or created using an Apple products is the property of Apple. The users can't sue, Apple can

I don't believe they can. I think that Google is protected under the same law that Web hosts are - you cannot be held liable for your user's content.

If they pursue this, I hope Google gets their case thrown out on the grounds that Web hosts are not liable for user content.
