That is one good clock speed, and triple bios? interesting. I must say I'm not a big fan of the red and I know the Classified editions are like that. Good thing is just minimal, very slick design.

Why do we need the DVI port on top. That means I can't add any card between two cards in SLI, such as a capture card or raid card.

 

EDIT: now that I think about it, someone will probably release a single slot compatible GPU for watercooling.

I've always wondered why they don't make the Hydro cards single slot.
I mean, really, how many people these days that are going to put something into a custom loop need the DVI port?
They should all move over to DisplayPort...

BUT GOD BUCKETS DAMN IT. Can't they just stick with the x3 Display Port layout that comes with the reference board? A single Display Port is honestly a deal breaker for me at this point.

You're not the only one, that's one of the reasons I like the Gigabyte non-reference card, it has all the ports plus 3 DPs.

Not liking the ACX cooler, I wish more companies would do what Gigabyte did with the outputs since I dont want to spend more money and buy adapters for DP to DVI for my monitors.

From what I've read across boards Gigabyte really hit the spot with their non-reference, I'm really considering 2 970 for 1440p.

If it ain't broken my family doesn't replace it. My dad's Q6600 build was made when the chip launched and it lasted until August of this year. My mom still uses her 9-year-old Samsung LCD (It was $2000 when we bought it and it still has great picture).

 

Not everyone feels the idiotic need to upgrade every 2-3 years.

You are absolutely right, you do not need to upgrade your monitors every 2-3 years. But with the simply addition of some of these:

 

You are completely covered and those who do have the latest monitors don't miss out. But because of the direction they went, the people who do have the Gsync monitors cannot use a Gsync surround setup. Where if they would have stuck with the Reference layout all of the bases would be covered.

 

Edit: also keep in mind who is really the market for the EVGA Copper Classified series, its not the people using 9 year old monitors.

Why do companies insist on having two DVI ports on their cards?  It makes the water cooled cards look so ugly.  Personally the 500 Hydrocopper series looked the best since they could all be single slot.

Jayztwocents hit 1500mhz on the G1 windforce 970 on the stock cooler. I wonder what these things can hit under water...

Pretty sure that hydro 980 has a EK block on it as theirs the "E" logo in the bottom right. As for the ACX classified they definitely should have stayed with Black and Brushed Silver which accent very well. I suppose this overused red is for the RED EVGA X99 MOBO's.

I fall into that category of power user, though I'm not upgrading GPUs until Pascal. My 690 on water at 1.34GHz will suit me fine until then.
