GTA V releasing on PC Jan 27 2015... Here's the reason.

ZacDaMan72

i think he meant the PS3 version price. As for why he mention that, because the thread starter mention about jailbreaking ps3 and that might meant to install pirated gta v.

Ew. Alright, screw that then. I guess I'll wait until it goes on sale just like everyone else.

The reason is there is no reason.

The stone cannot know why the chisel cleaves it; the iron cannot know why the fire scorches it. When thy life is cleft and scorched, when death and despair leap at thee, beat not thy breast and curse thy evil fate, but thank the Builder for the trials that shape thee.

Other than them illogically favoring console despite the fact that PC players are more willing to spend money on stuff. Statistically speaking.

Turns out console players being beta testers claim was right, even the devs are admitting it lol

Yeah, its rare that the consoles are the public testing platforms, although It's probably the easiest to optimize the game for the weakest hardware first: start from the bottom and keep inching settings up until the new consoles are maxed out. all the terrain and texture loading optimizations from the 360/ps3 can be kept for new consoles and no one will care. For PC though, we will definitely notice if textures are popping into existence 5 feet away.

I doubt the "new" gen console players would even understand what you are talking about lol.

If this is true then its okay. hopefully this is not just a marketing scheme and they release a buggy unoptimized game.

Price wise i think $25-35 for a year and almost a half old game like this is about right.

In fairy tale world yes, not in reality. For PC its a new game, for consoles its something like a big patch update for those who own ps3/360 version. Maybe prices will differ but I kinda doubt it.

Back to topic :

I think its both, they delayed it for improvements and good PC version as well as for money. They are a business and it needs money to profit and exist.

Maybe when they started all of this (Founded R*) their mindset was to do games for ppl more than for money. But thats a different rant...

Also I disagree with statements/ statistics that PC gamers are willing to pay more. Not entirely truth because why would g2a, humble bundle and steam sales be so popular ?! :)

We would pay more if the games produced met criteria of every single person who buys the game (impissible).

I think that's BS.  Still think they're just doing it to maximize sales.  I think they know that revenue from double/triple dippers exceed the lost PC sales by staggering the releases.  No way to prove it, of course.

EDIT: Or it's better for their financials to have the releases separated into different quarters

EDIT 2: In fact, that's exactly the reason.  Take Two's fiscal calendar starts April 1st, which puts the PS4/Xbone release in the 3rd quarter, and the PC release in the 4th.  I solved it guys  :D  always follow the money.

Great and now PC gamers should just STFU and wait. If it came out a month or two ago, unpolished, looking like sh*t and gobbling up more VRAM than Watch Dogs..
Everybody would be b*tching and moaning like crazy. Feeling butthurt and mistreated because 'game developers don't care about the PC master race'.

I'm perfectly fine with them delaying the PC version, I just don't want it delayed multiple times and then to be released as an unoptimized piece of crap *cough* watchdogs *cough*

Jan 27th? Waaay to close to the Wicther 3 release, assuming that they do not delay any further and seeing as that release date is months away (4+ months) its quite possible that this is the case. End result for me is that I will end up waiting and buying it on sale as no way I am not buying Witcher 3

People of the MasterRace wait and you shall be rewarded with the best gaming experience possible!

I don't mind. You guys are beta testing the hardware for us, which in the end is a lot more expensive.

I don't really play many games for gameplay anymore honestly. I play most games just for the graphics.

I am not sure of whole discussion. To me it's simple, Sony and MS needed to shift unsold PS3 and XBox 360. PC version was delayed because Rockstar got enough to make the delay. Now similar situation is happening with new gen consoles. Not so extreme though as Rockstar must've sold tons by now. Hence not so distant PC release anymore. Improved draw distance, few new cars and animals plus folliage is few days work for Rockstar.

In short - 5uck it up. Rockstar is here to make money and MS with Sony is willing to pay. Release dates are bought. We are all willing to make changes for cash. So is the Rockstar.

Amen

99........ point 9 percent sure that the game will be modded on a whole new level this time with the whole ocean and sky planes, yeah someone is gana have a fun time changing it. but i'm also terrified that the game is going to be terribly unoptimized when it comes out, i mean my single sapphire radon HD 6950 pulled more frames than my 290 at times in GTA IV, i just hope that isn't the case with this one.

No. They are just hiding the truth. Rockstar treats pc gamers like shit.. its been like that since forever. They just have the priorities of it low. They just delayed the PC version again last week without an explanation. The "polishing part" doesnt count, they already said that when the game was delayed to Fall 2013 from Spring 2013. You can see in the buildlogs that the first bugtracks from the PC version were from early 2012. There was nearly no evidence of PS4/Xbone development as of the date when GTA V released for PS3/360.

They removed every single pc related comment on their site from the day GTA V was announced to the day GTA V was announced for NextGen.

I hate GTA. But I just got a new gaming PC, and if for nothing else, it'll be fun to just roam around and do random shit with the gorgeous new graphics. I have no interest in the plot or story. But GTA Online is enticing!

lel people actually believing that the PC version is released in order to optimize it better and not as an attempt to maximize their profits.

personally I don't think this is true...  Most people that were gonna buy the game are still gonna buy it even if its late.  and in my opinion, everyone thats using this whole late thing as an excuse to pirate the game was still gonna pirate it in the first place...  and the few sales that actually do fall off are prolly more than made up for by the double/triple dippers...

but like you said, no way to prove it

for everybody

I can wait, I already know what the game is like, so I'll wait for it and buy it again.

not going to complain because the devs want their game to be good.

I know what the games like, never bought it though. I plan on buying it however.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)
