First, ignore the edge, that's ridiculous trash, and not even compatible with what comes later in the video.

 

 

2560x1440 amoled display, and coupled with the gear VR from oculus, you basically have the single highest resolution VR headset on the market today.

 

 

Gaming probably won't be as compelling as something hooked up to a pc, but the virtual cinema might be the single biggest killer app on mobile.  You basically have a theater sized screen strapped to your face, blacks will be pitch black due to the amoled display.   Move over kuro, ditto for those 100 thousand dollar tvs, spend a bit on this with the note 4 and you basically have a similar effect.  You can take this combo on a plane and darken out everything around you and go into your own media world.

 

 

It's just such a cool combo.  Apple can't do that, htc can't do that, sony can't do that.  None of them have access to amoled like samsung does.  They might be able to mimic the cinema style applications, but the contrast won't be as good due to the inferiority of lcd displays as far as black levels go.  

 

 

 

It's over.  I am sorry to say so, but it is.  I am not even a huge samsung guy, I thought the s3 was hideous, and the following s series were just slightly less lackluster version of the phone year after year.  But the note series has always been a bright spot, and with this?!?

 

It doubles as a freaking mobile oculus with that add on...

It's not inferior. It's just the Edge's bent corner is uncomfortable for my hands, even if they are big. I think 4.7" is the sweet spot for phones and my hands.

I'd argue that a phone, especially a smart phone, actually proves to be more useful than a car.

For example, it can check public transit, or call you a cab to get to work. If your car breaks down...well...what do you need? A phone.

It might change if you lived in the boons, or far from a city.

Though if your car broke down the phone would be even more important.
