Try pelican or maglite. I use the large ones on aircraft work and it works great.

I've been needing a new flashlight since all of mine can't even light up a small room. I like going overkill so I'm looking for something with hundreds of lumens (prefer 200+) and that goes a far distance and can easily light up a forest. I don't like the type that are bigger at the top. I love the small cylinder type. It needs to fit in a pocket, not to long. I've been looking on Amazon and I can't find any decent ones that are under $40 and aren't rip offs. I noticed alot of reviews on the 1000 lumens + type say it was no where near that bright. That's the problem with websites with Amazon and Ebay. The only one I saw that looked ok was this: http://www.amazon.com/Tactical-LED-Flashlight-High-Lumen-Waterproof/dp/B00CB4UCW4/ref=sr_1_1?s=hardware&ie=UTF8&qid=1407791730&sr=1-1&keywords=flashlight.

However I'm trying to find something even brighter. Does anyone know of any good brands, or flashlights themselves that are small, and bright but under $40?

Have you checked out Maglite? They make some badass flashlights (They used to be the biggest supplier of those huge badass police flashlights that doubled as batons):

Check out this one. $38 USD and just under 200 lumens at ~140 meters throw.

http://www.amazon.com/Maglite-XL200-LED-Flashlight-Black/dp/B005EHL6O8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1407875703&sr=8-1&keywords=maglite+led+200+lumens

They are well made, and very heavy duty/durable.

Honestly I think you're being highly unrealistic with your expectations. You can get super bright and small and well made, OR you can get super cheap.

They don't last and they aren't good for outdoors.

You've never had a maglite before, have you? I've got one from my dad from the early 80s and this thing is beyond rugged. I broke a rock with it.

I haven't had much experience other than a Maglite (that could be used as a baton too), for 30€ I got it, it works well. Might be a bit bulky to carry, though. For the price it's damn durable. My father owned one too, and it has lasted over 10 years, only the light bulb needed replacing, and only once during that time.

You also could use a smartphone's flash / screen as a flashlight. While those camera flashes are a bit weak, they light up as small room well. Screens can be used as sort-of flashlights too if your phone doesn't have a camera flash.

Or if you're feeling stalker-ish, you could up you budget to 150$ or so, and look for cheap Gen 1 Night Vision Devices (and maybe additional IR light)

I need to get my sight checked, I thought he was talking about fleshlights

Everytime i see this thread I think fleshlight. oh god lol.

Some dirty minded people you are...

TBH I read it incorrectly too for the first glance I saw this thread... Then quickly re-read it, this time actually correctly. Man I'm tired...

Never trust my advice. Only take any and all advice from me with a grain of salt. Just a heads up.
