i cant find any up to date info about burn ins or how long OLED's blues live for

the only thing i can find is an article from 2011

i have owned a phone with  AMOLED  from 2009 and burn in issue was big

LG = No Thanks.

Not since they turned off the smart in start TV's if you decline the Terms of Service.

I concur LG while they may make affordable products they lack quite too often in the QC. I'd be more satisfied if this were a Samsung offering.

It's still an issue. It has gotten better, but the main reason why it isn't that noticeable on most phones is because they are turned off like 90% of the time. TVs are on for far longer periods of time, and I am willing to bet that if you're a heavy TV watcher, and your favorite channel has a static logo that's displayed at all time, then your fancy 3500 dollar TV will permanently have the Hustler HD 3D logo etched into the top right corner.

Either that or your hilarious mate that is house watching for you while you're on a 2 week holiday will think it's super funny to let the TV display a static image of gay porno 24/7 for those weeks.

I'd much rather get a 1440p IPS monitor over a 4K TN, though... viewing angles on TN panels is complete ass.  :ph34r:

Um, ASUS has one for about $600. Anything 16:9 is cheaper than 16:10 at the same screen size. Mind you it's only 25" but they do have one. I passed by it when looking for my Dad's replacement monitor, but he could only fit 24", so we went with 1920x1200.

Wouldn't this just get burn in within a few years? seems like a waste.

Why would you buy a $3500 1080p TV in 2014? Just get a 4K TV...

$3500 is still pricey, but it is somewhat in a reasonable price for 55". True that you can get 4K for the same price, but if I have to choose between an OLED tv with rich color depth vs 4K tv, I pick oled tv

1440p is 16:9

I'm saying that because 16:9 panels are cheaper to make, and a comparably sized 16:10 IPS panels should cost more than the 1440p panel. Ergo, if The PA248Q is only $300, no way in Hell is the nearest 1440p IPS monitor costing more than $700. There's no justifying that cost, and ASUS has a cheaper one as I said.

Dude relax, he was using it as an example, not as an absolute fact on the pricing.

Anyway my take is this: OLED is visually superior to LCD. Just like Plasma is similarly superior to LCD. Also, Burn-in hasn't been an issue with plasma for like, what, half a decade? Anyone who still thinks Plasma TV's have burn-in issues has never used a modern Plasma TV. They have integrated protection mechanisms that prevent burn-in and they've had them for 5+ years.
