That having two cards in SLI or Crossfire will double the amount of effective vram you have.

If only we all could afford 8 SSD's in Raid 0

That internal sound cards have more noise and interference than their external counterparts.

Some "audiophiles" insist that external DACs are the holy grail due to lower interference. So far, no scientific studies has shown or demonstrated any data to correlate this belief.

I would go into more detail, but I don't want to offend any external DAC users...

it all depends.

My laptop's DAC and internal cables have no shielding whatsoever and the noise is much more noticeable than on my external DAC.

Are you still using 3 1/2 floppy drives also?

No, my rig is in my profile.

Noctua's brown fans look good.

NO THEY DO NOT.

"A Gaming PC doubles your electricity bill."

^This was "true" for me (in comparison to the time when I had classes and barely touched Mutsuki)...

"AMD uses up more power."

"AMD chips run hot" (they do, in my case, since my room turns into an oven during summer days)

"You need a dedicated graphics card to have playable frame rates" (Already a myth thanks to AMD's APUs (A8 above) and Inte's Iris Pro and 4000 HD Graphics)

"You need at least an i5 to game."

"Desktops have a lifespan of three years."

Oh and something from the local ISPs

"Fiber speeds on Wi-Max networks"

Brown Noctua fans look more premium than a generic black fan at least. When it comes to fan design, I always thought the Gentle Typhoons were the coolest.

Let me add more..

TN panels are just as good.

AS5 is the best TIM on the market (even some techies still believe this)

Your ram needs large ass heatsinks or else they overheat.

@DigitalHermit A lot of stuff ISPs say falls under PC myths, they are terrible salesmen when they try to sell to a tech

I know... Thankfully, I was able to deconstruct their lies and forced them to let us keep our copper-based connection (until real fiber-to-the-premises becomes available)...

For a laptop, it really is a mixed bag of results. For a desktop though, it shouldn't matter.

Exactly, even on my very old g31 budget motherboard there's barely any noise.

A popular myth (which also works for televisions and books): "Staring too long/close at a tv/pc screen will make your eyesight worse."

Complete and utter bull****. Annoys me so much when people say things like this -.- Your eyes get tired of it, just let them rest and you're good to go. Eyesight is by no means affected.

TN panels are just as good.

People need to stop beating on TN panels. They make 0 difference for a very large portion of consumers.

People that work on spreadsheets, do programming or play video games and don't really care about the graphics don't need to spend the extra hundreds of dollars for not TN.

that's actually true.

Windows 8.1 has newer versions of DirectX and has a lot of efficiency boosts compared to 7

Yes, I know it is a little faster, but still is not enough to run current games on a core 2 duo without a graphics card.

Mystery is the source of all true science.

I'm sorry, but even for general use, they are pretty bad. The color shifts on TN panels is reason alone to dismiss them if you care about media. That's not even factoring inaccurate colors which is only important to those that deal with graphics.

No, there is no reason color shift matters to someone working on anything where color is not of importance. The majority of professions do not require these things, so there is no real reason to recommend anything but a TN monitor for something that's going to be used like this.

Even for gamers, a lot of them really don't need a good monitor. I don't know about you, but if I'm actually enjoying a game, I will get into it and probably barely focus on how good the graphics actually look. I'm definitely not alone out there.

I just think it's like saying that everyone should go out and buy Sennheiser HD600s. I think that listening to anything worse wouldn't satisfy me, but there's a lot of people who can't even tell the difference between HD550s and HD600s, let alone prefer one.
