i'd say somewhere around 7.5. you got a good overclock but i don't like the case or the power supply :P

mine isn't done as case and second gpu is just ordered, not delivered.... but let's pretend it's complete for a rating :P

2600k @ 5 ghz 1.2 volt

nh-d14, haven't decided on fans, but it's currently running 3x sp120 PE at 7 volts, can't even hear them...

16 gb ram, dominator 1600 mhz

m4 128 gb

WD black 1 tb

WD AV-GP 3 tb

FD arc mini r2 (ordered!)

xfx 7950 x2 (second one is ordered)

maximus v gene

corsair ax 860

and some peripherals, just for fun :p

2x benq 2420HD and 1 PB viseo-something, a total of 5760x1080

corsair k90 (wanna replace it...)

corsair m60

logitech z-5500 (wouldn't mind replacing those either)

siberia v2, standard black

4 tb of random external drives

random netgear-switch

some external dvd-rom from asus, just because of gta

custom made monitorstands :D

My own:

Notes:

  • I don't have 16 or 32 GB of RAM yet, I do want some eventually
  • I am not at the moment using that aftermarket CPU cooler. But stock
  • No overclocking what-so-ever
  • I don't have that monitor yet, but will eventually.

To a rating of the rig above mine? 8/10 ?

9/10.  Great CPU, I would love to render with that puppy. Bit of a cheap cooler for such a nice rig! A motherboard is a motherboard. 16GB of RAM again must make rendering footage a dream Nice on the SSD, I recently got one for my Server and Storage rig, love them to pieces! I guess 2TB is enough for you, but I'd consider sticking in another HDD. Never used an AMD card, but I know the 7970 is great, so thumbs up there. Not a fan of the HAF series but the HAF X is definitely one of the nicer ones! You could do with a new PSU, if you want to CrossfireX, but otherwise, no problems there. Woo, Win 7! 27" monitor? Nice. Never looked at the SIDEWINDER, is it good? And what mouse. I docked off a point because of the cheaper cooler in such a nice setup. And I treated it as if you had the RAM, cooler, and the monitor. Because I am kind.

I don't render but I do fold@home - I thought the CPU & GPU may help standford a bit more than a i5. I also went the i7 because I thought it may help a little more in a heavily modded Skyrim then i5. 16 or 32 GB of RAM, at the moment I ocassionally get as high as ~95% RAM use sometimes - like yesterday - defragging, folding@home, palemoon (with youtube videos open), cyberfox (/waterfox), solitare, steam, foobar.   I am really surprised at how small Palemoon takes up in RAM compared to firefox or waterfox. As for the keyboard I only really got it because: USB (incase whatever motherboard I picked didn't support PS/2) and the media keys.  Mouse is a normal microsoft mouse - left/middle/right button. Nothing fancy, no extra buttons, nothing to increase or decrease the DPI.

Before I forget, I also wanted to emulate upto the Wii, the PS2/Wii devs recomend an i7 more than i5 for emulating the PS2/Wii/Gamecube.

Cool, thanks for replying with your reasons! I multitask way to much as well, two screens makes it so easy!

I'm going to keep my reasons nice and simple.

7/10 for Rig 1:Gaming and Editing. Would be 8/10 if it had an SSD and you would benefit from an i7 if you are doing editing. Otherwise, pretty good!

6/10 for Rig 2: Server and Storage. You do not need a 560Ti for server, it's using a lot of power (most home servers just need 400W max), and you could benefit from a third-party RAID card.

My main rig:

PCPartPicker part list: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/1tpCd

CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8GHz 6-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus 76.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Asus M5A97 EVO ATX AM3+ Motherboard
Memory: Kingston 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage: Samsung 840 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk
Storage: Hitachi Ultrastar 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 670 2GB Video Card
Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 ATX Mid Tower Case

Rig 1: SSD is very much planned, and thanks for reminding me about the i7, I'm looking into that

Rig 2: I know I don't, Rig 2 used to be my main rig, and I just kind of kept the 560 Ti in there so friends can use it to game. I would love to RAID, but I'm really nervous about it.

Thanks for the input!

Giving it a 9.5/10 because you haven't shown the cable management, but otherwise it seems like a 10/10 build.

I have had my CPU running at 5.25GHz, whilest being able to run a SuperPI Mod 1M bench. Not stable for Prime95 tho.

Max stable tested clock is 4.8GHz, but I don't like going past the 1.4v point.
