I would if I had a 4k monitor.

 

 

But you will have a 4k monitor, and when you do, and decide to look at an older video, it will only be in 1080p.  Don't hold back progress !!!!!

No... Internet speed and bandwith are note high enough... Me and my roommate bust 160gig between the 2 of use, imagine with 4k

I'd watch normal short video's in 1080p, but I'd totally watch the build guides in 4K for the cleaner picture on the bigger video lenths.

 

For those that say no..

You don't HAVE to select it when watching, think of those that WANT to.

I don't have a 4k monitor soooo no. I do have the internet speeds to do it though.

Im on a 250 Gigabyte data cap but they don't charge extra and only contact you about if you go like 600 Gigs+ overboard.

But... Alas Im on a 25 Mbps connection (Stable) And the bitrate on 4k video is 30-40mbps and I don't feel like ruining the internet for everyone.

60Fps though.... I would watch since 1080p 60Fps is like 12Mbps or something.

Also all these bitrates are from memory of what youtube allows. So they probably aren't 100%

1. Internet speed would not allow for it (6 Mbps is barely enough for 720p)

2. YouTube's CDN's (Akamai) would probably end up having a quadruple bypass due to overload.

3. This will make Linus cry, but I can find things to watch that would be more '4K worthy'.

4. 4K in my budget = neigh.

You watch Youtube videos in 4K without a 4K monitor. It looks nicer than 1080p due to downscaling and higher higher allowed bitrates.

But your internet would have a heart attack and YouTubes CDNs would already have a pentuple bypass due to the 60Fps bieng allowed soon.

I do not have any 4K Monitor and even if i did i don't think 4K is necessary for personal consumption of videos (1080 is enough). Personally, at this time 4K for videos reviews is a wastage of bandwidth since 1080 has enough quality and is just the right resolution that most people do not need to have their eye's an inch away from the monitor to read text (i.e. without using any scaling or anything like that).

4k looks more impressive on 1440p than on 1080p, don't deny the 2.5k crowd better than 1080p content because WE can benefit NOW for cheap.

but ISP's are f*%king it all up, so i cant watch in 4k.

We'll probably go 4K for lulz once our camera gear gets the appropriate firmware...

 

But honestly there are other things we can change to keep driving up our video production values that don't involve higher resolutions.

If I had a 4K monitor, I sure would. That would be until Comcast merges with Time Warner Cable and I'm hit with the shitty data cap ontop of shitty services. Then I won't. :(
